As we celebrate National Doctors’ Day, we want to recognize our UF Department of Neurology faculty, residents and fellows for their invaluable contributions to our patients and communities. Within the department, we have 65 faculty, 32 residents, and 23 fellows. We thank each of you for the hard work and dedication you have for the department, students and patients. You have dedicated your lives to improving the health of others, and that means forming special bonds of trust with patients, who open their lives to you in moments of great vulnerability and great triumph. The confidence patients place in you is not earned overnight, but is built through years of sustained effort characterized by empathy, respect and a deep sense of responsibility. Whether driving scientific breakthroughs and medical advancements, preparing future doctors to deliver the highest quality of care or devoting yourself to the needs of patients, you have made a lasting difference in the lives of so many people and continue to do so every day. Thank you!

The Administrative Team was overcome with pride to learn that a certain Neurology resident delivered a little Holiday cheer with the trademark kindness and integrity that makes the UF Health community so strong.

Last week, Dr. David Emch found a wallet in a parking lot; not content with leaving it be, he went out of his way to find the wallet's owner and deliver it to him with all its contents intact.

We applaud Dr. Emch's exemplary character and we are proud to have him as a part of UF Health Neurology!

"Wallet found!! This angel knocked on my door this evening with my wallet advising he found it in the parking lot. $300+ still inside and refusing ANY cash. There are still good people out there! He refused the reward!
Neurology at UF health will be much better because they have you. Thank You! Thank you! Thank you again. This goes down as a miracle in my book."

Join the Department of Neurology in celebrating Epilepsy awareness month! One in 26 people will be diagnosed with epilepsy at some point in their lifetime and an estimated 3.4 million people in the US are living with epilepsy. Despite epilepsy being a prevalent neurological disease, it remains largely misunderstood by the general public. Epilepsy awareness month is very important as it allows the opportunity to teach others what a seizure is and how to be supportive of those who are living with epilepsy. Show your support by wearing a purple ribbon to spread awareness across the community!

See the UF Neurology Epilepsy webpage for more information: https://neurology.ufl.edu/divisions/epilepsy/

Their teamwork and support contributes to our outstanding patient experience and the success of UF Health. NPs truly make this organization a special place to work as well as the best place to receive care!

The simplest way you can celebrate National Nurse Practitioner Week is to say “thank you” to any nurse practitioner you know and let them know you appreciate the work they are doing.
