All 2024 late file exemption applications are due to our office no later than September 13, 2024. Late applications cannot be accepted beyond this date. All 2024 late files require an extenuating circumstances affidavit.

Proving Homeownership: Heirs Properties, Mobile Homes, and Travel Trailers
If you or someone you know lives in an heirs property, mobile home, or travel trailer that was damaged as a result of Hurricane Debby, please click https://alachuacountyready.com/incidents/debby/latestupdates/7378957299 to see FEMA guidance on documentation you can provide to prove home ownership when standard forms of documentation are not available to you. Once you have your documentation together, you can apply for FEMA assistance by visiting DisasterAssistance.gov. The deadline to apply is October 9.

**What To Review on Your TRIM Notice**
Our office strongly encourages property owners to do the following:
• Review their TRIM Notice on our website if they have not received it in the mail yet
• Review the listed exemptions or classifications
• Review the listed ownership
• Review market value
• Review the Save Our Homes Cap

**Do you know how many notices contain these types of errors?**
Currently, our office has been notified of five such errors. If a property owner believes there is an error on their TRIM Notice, we encourage them to notify our office.
A corrected TRIM Notice will be mailed as fixed, and only the affected properties will receive the corrected notices.

**TRIM-Related Community Outreach**
Our Community Outreach team strives to be community-focused and has recently hosted a ‘I Wish Someone Would Have Told Me This: Everything You Need to Know About Your TRIM Notice' on August 10, 2024. Our office will be open until 7 p.m. from August 26- August 30 to be more accessible to the public. No appointments will be required during this time. We will be available by phone, email, and walk-ins at our main office. Additionally, we will have a mobile popup in the City of Newberry to address TRIM Notice concerns from September 3 – September 10 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. We encourage constituents interested in learning more about upcoming events to visit: https://www.acpafl.org/community-outreach/

We’re excited to collaborate again with the City of Newberry by hosting our second mobile pop-up at Mentholee Norfleet Municipal Building! You can visit us from September 3 through September 10 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. each weekday. Suppose you have recently moved into your new home, and your previous home was homesteaded and in Florida. In that case, you may be able to transfer some or all of your prior home’s ‘Save Our Homes’ benefit to your new homesteaded property. You must complete a DR-501-T (transfer of Homestead Assessment Difference) form.
