Art Studios of Grace

This is my favorite of the illustrations I have done for my book How Many Cats?.
So ----- How many cats can you find? Hint: More than 10, fewer than 30.

Just finished - Two Fine Chaps - 5 x 7 inches

Just finished the small acrylic painting, 5 x 7”. It is called “the opposite of two”. I have included the quote that inspired it.

How many cats?

This was a commission piece I finished on Thursday, just in time for the holiday. I was given pictures of the cats separately and asked to include Swiss-cheese plant (monstera) if possible. I am happy with how it came out, and so are the patrons.
If you are interested in your own commissioned painting, send me a DM. House portraits and cat portraits are most common, but I am happy to try something new.

This is an autobiographical illustration of my childhood in Wisconsin.

I found this image in the grain of the birch upon which it is painted.

I am getting ready for the Gainesville Downtown Art Festival this weekend, sort of nervous, as I am before each and every significant event in life. I try my best to chill and focus on tasks, like framing, and finishing one or two very small (5x7) paintings, like this one.

Art Studios of Grace four artists with studios in the former nursery school classrooms at GPC

Jim Wilson will have his hand made toys for sale at our ArtWalk celebration tomorrow, Friday, from 6-9. Come by to check out his work plus that of 15 additional artists. There will be music, a pumpkin raffle, Mel’s kitchen food truck with Puerto Rican food, trick-or-treat for the kids and a mask decorating station.

ART NOVEMBER 2022

Blue Ridge is an really pretty little town. There is a scenic railway that starts here, a cute train and depot, very picturesque. The show was slow but steady yesterday. The show director, Quinn, was very helpful yesterday when I found that the giant magnolia tree under which I was placed did not allow for the height of my tent. She and two volunteers helped me move my set up to a much better spot. This morning I am sitting in my tent listening to the rain patter sporadically. I got here early, but delaying pulling things out of my tent in the hopes that the intermittent rain stops. It’s cozy. It’s about 50 degrees and that is lovely- with a sweater on I feel warm enough.
Tonight at five I break down, and tomorrow I head back to Gainesville, where I will be getting ready for the Thornebrook Arts Festival this coming weekend.

There was only a small amount of time I could spend painting this week, but I did get another How Many Cats? painting started
