PARENT TALKING TIP:
Bubble play = Developmental benefits
▶️ Visual Tracking:
*the ability to control your eye movements when following objects. ~Simply blow bubbles & encourage your child to follow them with their eyes.
▶️ Fine Motor Skills:
*the ability to complete tasks with use of small muscles in our hands & fingers. ~Get your child to pop bubbles with their hands & fingers.
▶️ Hand Eye Coordination:
*ability for the eyes & hands to work together. ~As your child pops bubbles or uses the bubble wand, they strengthen their hand eye coordination.
▶️ Oral Motor Skills:
*movements of the muscles in the mouth, jaw, tongue, lips & cheeks. ~Give your child the opportunity to use the wand to blow bubbles. If your child struggles with blowing have him/her blow a bubble that is already on the wand.
▶️ Tactile Fun:
*Tactile (touch) sense is one of our 8 body senses that receives information through the skin. ~Bubbles are sticky & wet. When your child pops them on their skin, their tactile system reads & interprets the information.
▶️ Helps to Calm & Organize:
*The act of calming & organizing the child’s body is the result of the use of the proprioceptive sense when blowing bubbles. ~The act of blowing bubbles stretches the muscles of the mouth & this movement stimulates proprioceptive sense which is calming & organizing for the body.
▶️ Gross Motor Skills:
*ability to skillfully use your large body muscles to complete movements. ~Create a bubble storm so your child has to stand on tip toes, stomp, jump, & run to pop all the bubbles.
▶️ Identify Body Parts:
*Helps with body awareness & cognitive skill development. ~Instruct your child to pop the bubble with their finger, nose, foot, etc.
▶️ Listening Skills:
*Being able to hear what someone is saying & respond appropriately. ~While playing provide your child with some instructions & wait for them to respond.
▶️ Social Skills:
*Figuring out how to play with friends. ~simply involve more kids in play.
