The Grand River Valley is a magnificent gift of Nature. It is a designated American Viticultural Area that has the highest concentration of wineries in the state of Ohio, with the closest being just ½ mile away from our cottage, and dozens more beautiful wineries to the south. And breweries…And distilleries…

Less than 5 miles away, nostalgic Geneva-on-the-Lake embodies the excitement of yesteryear musings. Walking down The Strip takes you back several decades, with dozens of bars, restaurants, shops, live music offerings, and the must-see old-fashioned fun of Fascination, a cross between ski ball and bingo, which is surprising addictive and loads of affordable fun. You’ll be sure to have “Roll ‘em!” echoing in your mind for hours! Also, be sure to hunt down one of the last surviving and STILL operating 1930’s cast iron F.W. Mangel shooting galleries left in the world. We'll give you a hint if you want it.

But there’s more. Scattered amongst this scenic valley region, is one of the largest concentrations of beautiful, rustic covered bridges in Ohio. From the shortest one in the country, the 18 foot Liberty Street Bridge, to the longest one in the country, the 613 foot Smolen-Gulf bridge just 15 miles away, dozens of these examples of old-fashioned craftsmanship will wow you with their charm and splendor.

In Geneva, Ohio, you don't have to go far to find a winery to relax and sip...and that is certainly true right in Downtown!

The nearby Old Mill Winery is a cozy and friendly place to do just that. At about a half mile away, a 2 minute drive or a nice short walk down scenic Broadway will deliver you to their front door...just look for the red building with the giant wine cask!

Either on 4 wheels or 2 (which is what I prefer!), a ride through these gorgeous fall foliage vistas to visit these historic momentos of a simpler time is sure to indulge your senses and satisfy your urge to get away and explore.

The Ashtabula County Covered Bridge Festival is drawing nearer on October 14th and 15th, and includes a 19 bridge trail with stops at each one for photos, and a little shopping and nibbling at the various pop-up tents throughout the tour.

With a couple dozen+ wineries in the vicinity, this tour is a must-do for the outdoor nature lover.

When you've had your fill of autumnal sights and scents, head back to your own little getaway at the Geneva Creekside Corner Cottage ... with a campfire and a couple bottles of your favorite wines picked up along the way.
