Father & Son worked along side each other today, and it was much like any other day at the Diner. Busy. Full of hard work, and making other Families meals that they enjoy during their time off. For Owner James Brown, Everyday is Father’s Day. We Appreciate his dedication and hard work, everyday. The measure of a man, is by the smiles on the faces of his family. I was so surprised today, when a customer brought in a copy of Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance Explore Magazine and on page 7 is a sweet write up by Sadie Winton sharing her love for Water St. Cafe with the World! “Water St. Cafe in Geneva is the best breakfast spot around! A Summer Miracle! Yesterday we had a customer who was visiting from out of town, that had eaten a fabulous meal at Ports’s the night before, and mistakenly had their credit card switched with another’s table. Joel was in such good spirits for being without his credit card & hours away from home. He was simply curiously asking people if they new the man who’s name was on the credit card, he now had possession of. The last Name was Perry, and the only Perry we know well at Water St. Cafe is Josephine Perry, so we called her to see if they were a relation. Sadly, that was a dead end. So then we called Marilla’s Mindful Supplies because who better to have in her Rolodex the owner of Ports, or atleast know someone who know how to get ahold of them. And of course the famous Marilla was able to provide Joel with two different numbers. By this time, Joel & his family were done at the Cafe, and were continuing their treasure hunt for Mr. Perry. This morning when I got to work, there was a voicemail waiting for us!!! The story has a happy ending with all parties getting their correct cards back & all is well! Joel called it a “Summer Miracle” I call it what Small Towns do!

Oh boss man Casey Belile where do I start ? I tried to join your team in 2005 and was told by your executive sous chef I was under qualified to work ! I grinded away working for chef rob schlock for a few years learning all I could. After grinding and putting my heart in around 2007 I reapplied and was hired. After moving closer yet further away, I grinded day in and day out with some knowledge but nothing like the ones in charge. I watched and tried and tried slowly moving up the ranks as I learned the menu and skills needed to be better than I was the day before . After my first year I was awarded employee of the month with many traditional and non traditional ways of cooking . I kept at it finally becoming a black coat(management) within the company . I became an asset that was dependable with a sharp yet passive mindset to persue future endeavors within the company. Learned right from wrong and even being wrong was still right . I grinded under Casey and other fellow chefs leadership and imo along side the five best “chefs” around which most business are lucky to have one . I learned the traditional/non traditional way that worked especially in our area for success. In 2009-2010 Casey was ready to persue another endeavor in the south unfortunately leaving us. We all tried to make it work but it wasn’t the same without boss man. In 2010 I started at Water St. Cafe with the chance to own my own restaurant while still working part time for belhurst where I felt at home . Slowly as the tide change I transitioned into my own job hoping for a bright future. I worked hard through adversity and my own problems and after a solid 10 years I bought water street cafe ! Here we are 2024 and I still look back thinking what if we met 10 years sooner we would be out the killing it! I will never forget the opportunity and still call whenever I need advise. You were the best boss man ever and I hope I made you proud with my goals in life. Tomorrow isn’t promised but I’ll never forget our time together and what I’ve learned even with Dennis being a d bag . Much love and respect forever and I’m glad to call you a friend and I will always look up to you!

Story Time! 📣 Joey is one of our amazing regular customers, and he brought his mom in for a special lunch today, because it’s his 74th birthday 🎂 this week! I asked them both to pose for a picture, and when she saw it, she said she would love to have a copy of it! Well…How could I say No? So I used the Walgreens App to print out an 8x10, got a simple frame and just dropped it off to their apartment in Geneva! Your wish is our command at Water St. Cafe! Couldn’t pass up, a chance to make them smile & have a memory of a great meal at Water Street! Thanks Joey for always being the best to all of us!
