Here’s a throwback for you about the history of Agritopia Farm: In 1960 the farm was purchased by a young farmer, Jim Johnston and his wife Virginia.

Shortly after, they built a home on the farm to raise their 3 boys - Joe, Steve and Paul. The farm grew pima cotton, durum wheat for pasta, barley, field corn, sugar beets, milo and alfalfa.

In order to preserve the land that they cherished, the Johnston family created a community where the farm could remain at the heart of everything. Which is Agritopia Farm as you know it today!

Dropping Saturday: Dream Date, a date shake IPA.

Every Arizonan knows the Date Shakes of Dateland—they’re world-famous, after all. Made with Medjool dates and vanilla ice cream, the shakes have been served to travelers on the I-8 since the 1920s.

Taking inspiration from that classic dessert, we brewed this version of our beloved Dreamsicle IPA with Medjool dates grown on Agritopia Farm. Additions of milk sugar and vanilla mimic the rich sweetness of the shake, while Sabro, Talus, and Mosaic hops lend notes of coconut and stone fruit. It’s the most unique Dreamsicle variant yet.

Dream Date will be in 4-packs and on draft starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Gilbert taproom and 11 a.m. at the DTPHX beer garden. There are no limits on how many cans you can take home. A special brunch menu featuring Base Layer Burritos, Chicken & Waffles with date syrup, and bacon-wrapped dates will be available at the Gilbert location from 9-11 a.m.

Farmhands invites 5-9 year olds and their Teddy Bears to tea in the garden at Agritopia!

Kids will bring their teddy bears to explore the garden and Agritopia Farm! They will set to work preparing the perfect garden tea party; creating decorations, party favors, and preparing delicious farm fresh food all while learning about our local organic farm!

Students will be creative with vegetables as food and art, as well as learn the basics about starting their own gardens in creative and meaningful ways!
