So cool when the clouds are like this.
Happy Sunday. The earth is beautiful.
I was wallowing this weekend.
Because my book hasn’t made very few reader lists, or hopeful lists or best-of lists, or starred reviews. It hasn’t generated a lot of buzz or gotten a lot of attention. It is solidly a mid-list title.
And so, when ’s newsletter hit my inbox, I was desperately craving her words. So, I’m highlighting what she said because it’s helping me so much.
The bottom line: you can only control what you control!
Focus on that:
What are you proud of?
What did you learn?
What went well?
What was hard?
What was daring and you did it anyway?
What brought you joy and happiness?
The more I think about these things, the more I feel like myself (instead of wallowing).
I hope it helps you too.
Missing the beach.
Happy Sunday. The earth is beautiful.
If you’re local, stop by the Mesa Book Fair at Red Mountain on Saturday, Dec 2, from 12-4pm!
I will be there with my books!

Dear Ms. Chow,
I want to thank you for your book Miracle. Your book came to me through my daughter, who chose it. I am thankful for the librarian who set it out on the featured shelf. I don't believe this pick was coincidence.
Your words in the sections Winter and Spring of Miracle resonated with me. I loved your use of musical terms and analogies. Thank you for your book, for the time and the journey you took to write and publish it. Blessings that it may continue to carry resonance and invitation for wholeness to many more.
Happy Sunday. The earth is beautiful.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. 🍁🦃🌵🥰💕

Posted • Out now! On this episode, I talk with debut author Karen S. Chow about her debut middle grade book, Miracle. It's a book she drafted during National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) so we talk about the fun of writing a first draft during NaNoWriMo, as well as addressing grief and death in middle grade, self publishing versus traditional publishing, and marketing for authors.
You can find Miracle in our curated list of books here: Bookshop.org/shop/middlegradematters
And on audiobook here: Libro.fm/middlegradematters
