Our 4th graders got to explore the wonders of science and discovery at the Arizona Science Center yesterday! They engaged in hands-on activities, fascinating exhibits and fun learning. A huge thank you to our teachers and chaperones for making this trip possible! 👏👏

Elevator Pitches in Ms. Dedman’s writing class were a huge success last week. The students worked on their persuasive writing skills to pitch a product, presented in front of the class and groups awarded a 5-star rating to each presenter based on evidence from a rubric. Way to go, 6th grade!! 👏👏

Our fabulous teachers participated in Sports Day as well!! 👏👏 Please excuse Mr. Fish’s disappointment-his Seahawks did not play well yesterday 🤪🤣🏈

We kicked off Spirit Week with Sports Day!! ⚽️🏀🏈⚾️🥎🏐

During Fall Break, Barcelona got brand new classroom furniture - new podiums for the teachers, brand new desks that have whiteboard tops and horseshoe tables for small group instruction. We are so grateful and the kids love it!!

Ms. Harper’s 7th graders were learning the science of cooking last week and did a fabulous job in the kitchen!! Their time included using math for measuring, planning as a team, lots of collaboration and FUN! Way to go, 7th graders!!

Spirit Week is this week!!! 🍁🎃👻

Mr. Hall’s 6th grade science class had the opportunity to make ice cream this week and see firsthand how they can turn a liquid into a solid. So cool!!! 👏👏

Parent/teacher conferences are underway in the junior high building and our fabulous counselor Ms. Mason is set up in front of 8th grade classes with plenty of resources for high school 😀

What a fun strategy for creating partners in class!!! 8th graders in Ms. Turner’s science class practiced questioning and problem-solving while forming pairs for partner work. Great job!

7th Grade Teacher Ms. Rylon kicked off her first Wednesday Writer’s Workshop today! She has created a space for students to dive into argumentative writing and learn techniques for crafting compelling arguments, structuring essays, and refining persuasive skills. Over the next 8 weeks on Wednesdays, they will continue to dissect key elements like crafting a strong thesis, presenting evidence and addressing counterarguments 📝✍️

The Boo Bash for our ESS students was a huge success!!! Way to go, ESS teachers and staff and our student council and DJ 619 for making this happen. The kids had a blast 😀

When the weather is this beautiful, Ms. Beltran’s 4th graders play volleyball outside during recess 😀🏐
