Thank you for a fantastic Cruise Night, Glendale! We had a great time connecting with the thousands of Glendale Cruise Night attendees Saturday night. Officers enjoyed sharing and showcasing their gear, vehicles and K9s, which are all made possible through community's support. GPD Cadets and Explorers were also out having conversations and helping officers keep attendees safe throughout the evening. The Glendale Police Department will conduct a driving under the influence (DUI) checkpoint on Friday, June 21, 2024 at an undisclosed location in the city of Glendale.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road.

The Glendale Police Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. While medicinal and recreational ma*****na are legal, driving under the influence of ma*****na is illegal.

Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.

Proactive policing by patrol officers and Special Enforcement Detail (SED) officers recently took two guns off the streets.

In Adams Hill last Thursday, SED officers made a traffic stop and searched the suspect’s car. Inside, they found a 9mm ghost gun, narcotics and evidence of identity theft. This investigation landed the suspect—a felon who had recently been released from community supervision—in cuffs. Officers arrested him for carrying a firearm as a felon, and cited a passenger for identify theft.

Then on Saturday, patrol officers responded to Glendale’s west side about a gang tagging report. When officers saw a suspicious car driving around, they stopped it, then searched it. During their search, officers recovered a loaded firearm and observed gang-related marks inside the suspect’s car. Officers arrested a man and two juveniles thanks to the officers’ proactive policing.

Proactive policing and professionalism are among the Glendale Police Department’s top values. We’re grateful to uphold these values in service of protecting Glendale and making our city one of the safest cities in the country!
