LAB GROWN VS. NATURAL 💎DIAMONDS💎

Which one is better? And Why?

For as long as we can remember, people have been buying natural earth-mined diamonds as engagement rings, wedding rings, anniversary rings etc. Our company has been solely selling natural diamonds since we started the business over 40 years ago. And personally we have been against selling or carrying lab grown diamonds (up until recently).

There are two ways lab created diamonds are made. The first way is a process called (HPHT) - high pressure and high temperature method. The second method is called (CVD) - Chemical V***r Deposition. Recently, manufacturers are using the CVD method - which is larger and more efficient in process.

COST???

In the video is a natural earth-mined diamond. 3.0CT Round Brilliant Cut. G Color, VS2 Clarity, EX, EX ,EX. The market price is between $50,000-$60,000. The same exact lab grown diamond goes for $6,000-$10,000. BIG DIFFERENCE in price. However, a natural earth-mined diamond takes 1-3 billion years to form before it can be cut and shaped into a sellable retail stone. Whereas a lab grown diamond takes 1- 2 weeks.

Currently, all production of lab grown diamonds are laser inscribed by either the words "Lab Grown" or a report number starting with the letters LG # # # # # #. The most popular/common lab reports currently used for grading Lab grown diamonds are IGI, GCAL and GIA. Interestingly enough, almost all Jewelers/Gemologists today find it nearly impossible to determine the difference between a lab created diamond and a natural diamond. Extremely expensive testing equipment is necessary to properly evaluate the diamond's origin.

COMMON MISCONCEPTION-

A common misconception is that lab grown diamonds are "Ethically Sourced" when in reality the energy needed to produce a lab grown diamond is significant. If the manufacturing process for lab-grown diamonds uses energy generated from fossil fuels, it may even create more carbon dioxide emissions than natural diamond mining; most factories still rely on fossil fuels to power the reactors.

WHICH DIAMOND IS BEST FOR YOU?

This question can only be answered by the lifestyle you live. A couple facts to consider...

Natural diamond values will increase over time like investments and can be passed on to family members for generations to come. THEY SUSTAIN their VALUE. In comparison, We have seen a decline in value for lab grown diamonds almost as early as they became popular in the jewelry industry. This isn't necessarily a BAD thing.
