We’re so excited to welcome author Michael Asselin to the inaugural A Novel Event in Fenton on Saturday, October 5 at the Fenton Community & Cultural Center! Michael Asselin writes fantasy.

About Michael Asselin
Michael Asselin was born and raised in Michigan. Spending most of his summers in Michigan’s upper peninsula he fell in love with the woods filled north and reading fantasy stories. It was up there on one of those magical summers where he first tried his hand at writing with a typewriter bought at a garage sale. He has been working at the craft ever since.

Working on finishing his second novel, “The Silent Rhythms of Shattered Hearts,” he writes every chance he gets. His second novel builds on the world introduced in “Red Morning Child,” his first self-published book. Adding new characters and new creatures, “The Silent Rhythms” is due to be completed in the fall of 2024.

He enjoys writing fantasy, science fiction and is currently working on a young adult monster hunter adventure. He pulls inspiration from wherever and whatever he can but likes to use his experiences outdoors such as kayaking and hunting to help build his creations.

About Zach Kuhl
Zach Kuhl is a graduate of Western Michigan University with a degree in creative writing. He lives in Kalamazoo, MI with his two dogs Chloe and Mable, and he writes fantasy, sci-fi, and horror. He finds his inspiration for his novels through games he played when he was younger along with tabletop RPGs such as Pathfinder and D&D.

Reading various novels such as The Expanse, Stormlight Archives, Ancillary Justice and various other novels have helped him better his craft and inspired him to continue writing and grow a love for both reading and writing. He wrote his first book in high school, an unpublished young adult fantasy novel called Razada.

His books focus on a wide variety of themes with various diverse characters. The project he is currently working on, an adult science-fiction novel, is focused on Earth, a struggling artist who is framed for terrorism by an acquaintance shortly after the death of his beloved uncle."

About A.M. Portman
A.M. Portman lives in Rose Township with her husband and two sons, where she writes her adventure-fantasy series, “Legends of Andolin.” When not writing, she can often be found at Huntington Ridge Farm riding her bay thoroughbred, Dragon. Her interest in horses, studies in archaeology, and love of classic literature reflect in her stories.

The “Legends of Andolin” series began when the author's sister requested an original novel for her birthday. Taking inspiration from her favorite classic authors such as Kipling, Stevenson, and Burroughs, Portman endeavored to craft a new tale filled with adventure, mystery, and humor featuring unique and memorable characters.

She is currently hard at work writing the third book in the series.

Rachel Ann Hubert is a Michigan native who enjoys writing in a vast array of genres. When she is not writing steamy novellas, fantasy series novels, or spooky Halloween tales, she enjoys nerdy movies, board games, and road trips. She finds inspiration in new places and friendly strangers, in nostalgic settings and her loved ones.

She is an extroverted introvert who likes to explore character-driven stories that leave you turning the pages late into the night. As an indie author, she is passionate about sharing tricks of the trade with aspiring writers and encouraging others to put their stories into the world.

Keep an eye out for future works in the following genres: dystopian, horror, contemporary romance. The second book in her series “Rise of the Tarnished” is expected early 2025.
