Paul began having pain in his left arm that kept him awake at night. He discussed his situation with an Ascension MI spine specialist, and after testing, he learned that he had spinal stenosis. Last summer, Stephen was preparing to participate in the Michigan Senior Olympics when a stress test revealed that he needed a quadruple bypass. He was stunned, shocked and devastated, until he met Dr. Bernabei.
Dr. Bernabei walked in and immediately addressed his fears with an explanation of what was ahead. After surgery, Stephen woke up to the smiling face of his wife, followed shortly by the gentle-but confident countenance of Dr. Bernabei, who's gift of life he will never forget. One month after surgery, Stephen was walking two-miles a day, and within three months he was running a mile a day and recovering muscle tone in the gym.
