What a crew! You showed up and rocked it! Special thanks to UND Drumline Staff Nick Dell'Acqua and Brian Pfeifer!
Hey Everybody! I am Erik Wells. I`ve been drumming for about 12 years, with 11 years of marching experience. I began to play in the Jamestown middle school band program. I then went on to march field shows through 4 years of high school, spending 3 of those years as center snare. I am completing my fifth and final year at UND, where I have been center snare for 3 and a half years, plus section leader for 3 years. I have also attended various drum camps over the years, and I`ve had some experience auditioning for drum corps, including a strong audition for the Blue Devils Drumline (The best drumline in the world!). I have taught a few camps and given private lessons. I also have a lot of experience writing music and developing exercises and show music to maximize the growth of a specific line. I will be working alongside Matthew Fowler. I am also happy to give private lessons to anyone who wishes to quickly improve their skills to the next level!
-Also it’s Erik’s Birthday week!!!-

This week we would like to thank the Popplers Music. Without the mentorship and support from Popplers, this group wouldn't be possible. A special thanks to Alexandra Leah Lieb. That's her in the kayak! With her expert door management, people can show up late to the group and know where to go. Marching band and drumline have shared a very special place in her heart and her willingness to stay late on Thursday's is truly a gift. Hey, maybe she will even grab a pair of drumsticks some time.

"I'm excited to share the progress I've made toward becoming a well-rounded percussionist as a graduate student at UND. Studying under Dr. Brian Pfeifer for my Master in Music degree has trained me to think critically about music performance, creating a product and a persona that is engaging to audiences.
Most, if not all, of the pieces selected for this recital have a focus on groove. I strive to create music that is so filled with life that it is impossible for listeners to sit still. If the body is engaging, it's a sign that the mind is engaging, and that meaningful musical moments are being made."
A huge thank you to those who showed up for the first night. Easily impressed by the talent and patience in the community. From introductions, technical practice and learning a few exercises we had a blast and the hour flew by. Please reach out and invite anyone who you feel has interest.
I would like to thank the school teacher who took the opportunity to develop some drum chops and the college percussionist with Drum Corps experience to help break it down. You'll definitely
I have been overwhelmed by the support from the community of Grand Forks and beyond! A massive thank you is in order. It's amazing to start making music together.
We have some help coming from all around the nation to make this project a reality and provide more opportunity. True masters of percussion are choosing to help us get this going.
We have live performance opportunities in the works over the summer.
Keep practicing and get those hands up and let's show the world what we got!
Remember, Thursday nights 6:30-7:30 bring sticks and pads if you can.
Hola Friends, My name is Matthew Fowler. You may find me daily at Popplers music. Occasionally I find myself helping out at the Blue Moose in the front of the house. I am doing my part in promoting a culture that supports Arts Education. I would like to build a drumline to do fun performances around at sporting and other community events. Growing up around Sioux Falls South Dakota I always saw drumlines and wanted to be a part of a bigger drumline myself.
I played in a group out of Sioux Falls my last two years of high school and it left so many permanent impressions in my memory and lifelong friendships I would not exchange for anything. We traveled Nationwide to International Drumline events.

I completed a Bachelors degree in Percussion. I worked with Programs out of Madison High School in South Dakota and Roosevelt High School In Sioux Falls South Dakota as a percussion Specialist. I am hoping to share everything I've learned.
I would like to offer weekly percussion masterclasses for free at Popplers Music to promote Arts Education. Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 is the current schedule, as interest forms we will reschedule to fit the groups best interests.
For now bring your pads and your sticks, we have notes to rip.
Feel Free to invite percussionist friends or educators in the area. Thank you!
