I had the honor of touring the National Security Corridor at the UND College of Engineering & Mines. This corridor further solidifies University of North Dakota as a major center for defense-related research and education.

🌞 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞? For UND geology student Mary, it looks a little something like this!

Together with an NSF-funded team, including herself and UND paleontologist Paul Ullmann, she's getting her hands dirty (literally) in Bighorn Basin near Red Lodge, MT, amidst a real dinosaur excavation. In this photo, Mary is excavating a femur, vertebra, and hip bone of a juvenile sauropod dinosaur called 𝐷𝑖𝑝𝑙𝑜𝑑𝑜𝑐𝑢𝑠.

In collaboration with the University of North Dakota, Elevation Science Institute, Rowan University, and Villanova University, they hope to capture their journey to create a Virtual Paleontology Expedition for high school and early college students. This innovative project aligns with Next Generation Science Standards, allowing teachers to integrate our virtual modules into math, geography, and science courses, broadening exposure to the geosciences.
