We had an incredible installation at today! The story behind this flag is so special and we’re honored to be a part of its journey. Playing with colors is one of the best parts of the framing process (hanging is of course #1!). We love testing out frames of all shapes and colors to be paired with the pieces you bring in. Bright colors are having their moment lately, and we’re especially loving this line from .

Huuuuge piece finished up recently at the shop! This is what we mean when we say “big things are happening.” Ha!!

We have had some incredible pieces coming through the shop to be framed this summer. We’ve also been seeing a lot of new customers moving to the area. We are so grateful for the opportunity to be servicing so many wonderful people.. West Michigan homes the best people! We appreciate everyone’s business and are excited to see what the rest of this summer brings.

Meet certified picture framer, Stephanie! Stephanie has been a valuable member of the Frame and Mat Shop team for over 30 years. She studied at Grand Valley State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art. Stephanie has extensive practice with framing projects of all kinds. In addition, she is considered to be one of the team’s master seamstresses for her talent and experience working with textile framing projects.

In her free time, Stephanie enjoys camping, reading, biking and travel! 🖼️🚴‍♀️✈️

One of our most recently finished projects here at FMS! Always fun to work on pieces like this, where the frame feels as interactive as what's inside. "Army of Darkness" is the third installment in the Evil Dead film series starring Bruce Campbell.
Choosing a frame without skulls would've felt like a disservice to our friend stuck in the middle. ☺️

Frame & Mat Shop Grand Haven got a facelift this weekend! 🖼️
This journey started in the shop, restoring a couple copper pieces (before and after pictures at the end), before Dan the handy man carried them up for hanging. Come see our latest addition! It’s especially beautiful after the sun sets and the lights turn on.

Meet Dan, our Frame and Mat Shop owner and Certified Picture Framer. 🖼️

Dan’s introduction to custom framing began as an apprentice under his father, from whom he inherited a love of design and natural skill as a craftsman. Dan earned his BS in Management Information Systems (MIS) at Central Michigan University and CPF certification before returning to the family business. He took over as owner in 1994.

Dan attends trade shows and seminars across the country, and has traveled to Italy to train under a master of art and frame restoration. He especially enjoys the personal relationships with FMS customers and the stories behind the projects they bring to the shop. In his spare time, Dan enjoys traveling, gardening, and walking the Grand Haven beach with his wife, Mary.

Congratulations to the Class of 2024! The world will be made a better place by all of your accomplishments. 🎓🥳

Local artist SANDRA HANSEN studied at Hope College and the Kendal College of Art and Design. She's shown her work all across the globe, including solo exhibitions in Denmark, India, and Sweden.
Sandra's recent work makes heavy use of of natural materials... "After being a painter for many years, I became a papermaker. I loved the magic of creating super thin, translucent, paper from leaves and bark. Paper can be made in a completely environmentally sound manner. It is also absolutely gorgeous. Its rich texture; its delicate gauzy effect, and its versatility is exhilarating."
