Massage is the practice of rubbing and kneading the body using the hands. During a massage, a trained massage therapist will apply gentle or strong pressure to the muscles and joints of the body to ease pain and tension.
Read on to learn about the different types of massage and which type might be right for you.
Swedish massage
Swedish massage is a gentle full-body massage that’s great for people who:
are new to massage
want to release tension
desire gentle touch
It can help release muscle knots, and it’s also a good choice for when you want to fully relax during a massage.
For this massage, you’ll remove your clothes, though you may choose to keep your underwear on. You’ll be covered with a sheet while lying on the massage table. The massage therapist will move the sheet to uncover areas that they are actively working on.
The massage therapist will use a combination of:
kneading
long, flowing strokes in the direction of the heart
deep circular motions
vibration and tapping
passive joint movement techniques
Usually, a Swedish massage will last 60 to 90 minutes.
Most popular question asked:
Client: How often am I supposed to get a massage?
Me: As often as you can. At least 2 a month because your daily activities train your muscles.
It's beneficial to drink water after your massage because as your massage therapist manipulates your muscles, substances are released. Drinking water before your massage helps the body flush out any accumulated materials that were released during the massage.
Below 👇🏾👇🏾you will find more reasons why drinking water before and after a massage can be really beneficial.
I can't express enough how important stretching is to your mind and body. Massage should have a combination of personalized stretches for whomever is receiving.
Don't let your health decline because you want to "work through" the pain. Book a massage to help address some of those aches and pains.
I’m feeling this one today 😵💫
In my early years of massage therapy, I worked with chiropractors, physical therapist, and occupational therapist. I have learned that people have developed this "one thing fix all" mindset. People tend to only utilize one of these options instead of using a combination. My point is you should see a chiropractor AND a massage therapist, or a massage therapist AND a physical therapist etc. Dont hold back on body work to get your body WORKING!

Eat to live instead of living to eat.
Gut microbiota are really important for digestion and to help identify what your stomach is built to digest. It lives in the lining of your digestive track and when you eat things not for you, it disrupts your ability to absorb nutrients from the food you do eat. Plus causing other side effects such as mood swings, irritability, lack of energy, anxiety, depression.
