Codependency impacts our relationships with ourselves and others. But learning what is ours, and not ours, to take on can create stronger relationships and lessen relational anxiety.
How I broke free from codependency — and learned the meaning of loving relationships "I thought: if I just helped my friends, colleagues and neighbors, maybe I’d get the connection I craved in love, work and life," writes journalist Gina Ryder.
We are excited to share with you another talented addition to River City! Welcome, Nat Shannon-Hutchison (she/he/they), LLMSW (MI), LCSW (IL)!
"Besides undergraduate degrees in Sociology and Anthropology, and Psychology, and master’s degrees in Human Services Administration and, most recently, Social Work (Chicago State University), I’ve had years of experience working with individuals from diverse populations (BIPOC, LGBTQI+, trauma survivors, seniors, …) challenged by unique concerns. I am currently licensed as an LLMSW in Michigan and an LCSW in Illinois."

Say hello to Rachel Dziabuda, MSW -- another talented clinician joining us at River City!
Rachel Dziabuda (she/they) is a q***r therapist who strives to provide a safe, comfortable space to explore the ways in which our unique experiences impact our functioning. Rachel utilizes a down-to-earth, informal approach to therapy, and focuses on building authentic relationships with their clients. Rachel believes therapy can be a space to laugh, cry, and swear (a little or a lot) as we work to reconnect with our true selves.

Help us welcome a skilled clinician, Kaitlyn Anderson, MA (she/her)!
“I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy and should have access to a therapist they trust. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I understand how difficult it can be to find clinicians in the community and/or allied clinicians. That is why I prioritize creating a safe, trauma-informed space for my clients where they can share and be heard. In my office, I am equal to my clients and provide feedback from a compassionate outlook. I mainly use a Cognitive Behavioral approach, which means together we will analyze your thought and behavior patterns and notice where improvements are desired. Some of my specialties are Gottman method couples counseling and trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I enjoy working with adults and teens.”
