Bringing a new pet home? Following these steps will help to ensure a smooth introduction:

1️⃣ Neutral Territory: Start the meeting on neutral ground, like a park, when possible to reduce territorial conflicts.

2️⃣ Controlled Introduction: Use leashes and carriers for controlled and safe first meetings.

3️⃣ Gradual Acclimation: Allow short, supervised visits between the new and existing pets, gradually increasing their time together.

4️⃣ Positive Reinforcement: Reward both pets for calm and friendly behavior during meetings.

5️⃣ Respect Existing Pet's Space: Ensure your existing pet's safe space is respected and not invaded by the newcomer.

Be sure to snag your K9 baby a bandana at their next visit. They are sprayed with Thunder Ease, a pheromone based calming spray for dogs. It's a great added step to help make their experience a pleasant one!

Signups for our first session of puppy training classes are starting!!! Puppy classes are open to clients of Jelsema Vet Clinic and Pet Vet Clinic. The classes will be held on Thursdays from 12:30-1:30 running from April 11-May 16, at our sister location, Jelsema Vet Clinic. These classes will be open to puppies who are between 8 weeks and 5 months old and are current on age appropriate distemper vaccines and a kennel cough vaccine. Classes will be limited to 6 puppies per 6 week training session. Cost for the 6 week session is $200 and can be paid in person or over the phone once your spot has been confirmed and must be made prior to classes starting.
