Hard for this empathetic music therapist who lives across the street from an elementary school to not rush out and try to rescue these crying little ones and their parents on the first day of school 😥.

Another miracle moment with Music Therapy happened with a client who through dementia has lost almost all communication - no phrases, no words. She still connects with music by shaking her head "yes" to songs that she likes and moves her body to the music. As I played an old Hymn that she likes she suddenly blurted out a full phrase - "that sounds like Heaven". My heart leapt for joy and once again I saw MUSIC make this magical connection.

Music Therapy Session cut short due to a mandatory meeting for residents. I’ve been wanting to increase attendance at this site so I started their meeting off having them sing some Johnny Cash with me then invited them to join me each week! When life give you lemons -make lemonade!

I had a fantastic discussion in my addiction recovery Music Therapy group yesterday about avoiding emotions and used this song as the catalyst for the discussion.
