Hello! I hope you are enjoying the summer weather and getting a chance to spend time with family and friends. I took the months of June and July off for social media. It was a wonderful couple of months.
Today, I wanted to share a project I have been working on instead of monitoring social media, these adorable Alice In Wonderland junk journal printable cards that use various art forms that I spent time working for journaling.
I have found journaling in various art forms provides:
Mindfulness:
Journaling can help you stay present and maintain perspective. It can also help you look at your thoughts objectively, providing an alternative perspective and help you see things more clearly.
Self-reflection:
Journaling can help you reflect on your emotions, giving you a sense of wellness and joy. It can also help you identify important patterns and growth in your life.
Brain regulation:
Journaling can help your brain regulate emotions and move on to more productive things.
What Can The Alice Printable Cards Be Used For?
The cards were created for personal use to add to junk journals but can be added to glue books, scrapbooking projects, and other crafts. Let your imagination run wild.
And, most importantly, take time to complete projects that help you keep a positive balance for your mind, body, and soul.

Pine trees in Wisconsin typically produce their pollen cones in the spring, usually between late April and early June.
* Pollen Production: Pollen cones (picture 1), also known as male cones, are responsible for producing pollen grains. These grains contain the male reproductive cells of the pine tree.
* Pollination: When the pollen cones mature, they release pollen grains into the air. This pollen is carried by the wind to nearby female cones, which are typically larger and less conspicuous than the pollen cones.
* Fertilization: (Picture 2) The pollen grains that land on the scales of female cones can germinate and grow pollen tubes. These tubes transport the male gametes (s***m cells) to the ovules (female gametes) within the female cones.
* Seed Development: (Picture 3) Once fertilization occurs, the ovules develop into seeds. These seeds are protected within the woody scales of the female cone.
* Seed Dispersal: Over time, the mature female cones open and release the seeds. This can happen either through the cones drying out and opening naturally or through the action of animals that feed on the seeds.

Since the item is a digital file, I do not accept returns. However, if you have any print issues, I will gladly help solve them with you.

Early spring and the Russet Buffaloberry shrub (Shepherdia canadensis) are in bloom. I caught up with the first insect of the season, Mr. fly was enjoying a little taste of a blossom. The shrub produces tiny yellow flowers with speckles before it gains its leaves for the season.
Hey, you! Yes, you! Got any food? My tummy is rumbling.

🦋💜...Annual Honesty.. 💜🦋
The annual honesty plant, also known as the silver dollar plant or Lunaria annua, is a herbaceous biennial or short-lived perennial plant.
Plants are known for their attractive silvery-white, oval-shaped seed pods that resemble silver coins or flattened discs, hence the name "silver dollar plant." The pods are typically papery and translucent, giving them a delicate appearance.

Pictured in a green heron in the wetlands.
Wetlands can be found in various forms, such as marshes, swamps, bogs, and fens. They play crucial ecological roles and provide various environmental benefits.
They are characterized by the presence of water, whether it be permanently or seasonally. The water can be stagnant, flowing, or even underground.
Vegetation: Wetlands support specialized plant life adapted to water-saturated conditions. Common wetland plants include cattails, reeds, sedges, and various aquatic plants.
Biodiversity: Wetlands are rich in biodiversity, providing habitat for a wide range of plants, animals, and microorganisms. They serve as nurseries for many fish species and are crucial for migratory bird populations.
Water Filtration: Wetlands act as natural filters, helping to improve water quality by trapping sediments and filtering pollutants. They play a vital role in maintaining water purity.
Flood Control: Wetlands function as natural buffers against floods by absorbing and storing excess water during heavy rainfall or storm events. This helps reduce the risk of downstream flooding.
Cultural Importance: Many cultures around the world have historical and cultural connections to wetlands. Wetlands often hold spiritual and traditional significance for indigenous communities.
Despite their ecological importance, wetlands face threats from human activities such as drainage, urban development, and pollution. Conservation efforts are crucial to protect and preserve these valuable ecosystems
Woodchucks, also known as groundhogs (Marmota monax), do not undergo molting in the same way that birds or some other animals do. Molting typically refers to the shedding or casting off of feathers, fur, or skin to be replaced by new growth.
Woodchucks, being mammals, have a different process for shedding and regrowing their fur. They experience a seasonal change in their coat, with a thicker, warmer fur in the winter and a lighter coat in the summer. This transition is not a molting process in the strict sense, as they don't shed their fur completely. Instead, it's more of a gradual change in response to the changing seasons.
During late spring or early summer, woodchucks may appear with a lighter, shorter coat as their winter fur is gradually replaced by a thinner summer coat and shedding the thicker coat. Similarly, in the fall, their fur may become denser and thicker in preparation for the colder months.
Missing the delicate dance of damselflies and the warm embrace of summer sun. Here's to chasing away the chill with memories of nature's aerial ballet and the promise of sunny days ahead.

The fruit of the European cranberry, also known as Viburnum opulus, is a deciduous that is native to Europe, northern Africa, and northern Asia.
* Fruit: The plant produces bright red in the late summer into early fall. These berries are similar in appearance to cranberries, but they are not the same as the American cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon).
* Wildlife Attraction: The berries of the European cranberry bush are attractive to birds, providing a food source. This can make it a valuable plant for wildlife gardens.

The interpretation of what a loon represents can vary depending on cultural, symbolic, or personal perspectives. Here are a few common associations with loons:
* Wilderness and Nature: Loons are often associated with wilderness and natural environments. Their haunting calls are iconic sounds in northern lakes and forests.

* Solitude and Tranquility: Due to their preference for remote and quiet lakes, loons are sometimes seen as symbols of solitude, and tranquility. and the reawakening of old hopes, wishes, and dreams. The Loon relies on water and water is a symbol for dreams and multiple levels of consciousness, thus Loons teach us to follow our hopes, dreams, and wishes.
* Communication and Connection: Loons are known for their distinct calls, which they use to communicate with each other. This can symbolize the importance of communication and connection.
* Spirituality: In some Native American cultures, loons are considered spiritual animals and are associated with mystical qualities.
* Adaptability: Loons are skilled divers and are adaptable to different water environments. This adaptability can be seen as a symbol of flexibility and resilience.
It's important to note that the symbolism of animals can vary across cultures and individual beliefs, so interpretations may differ.
About this photo: Loon captured as it emerged from the depths of a quiet lake at sunset in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. In summer, adults have a black head and bill, a black-and-white spotted back, and a white breast. The extra dots around the head of this bird are water droplets.

Lake Michigan separates the upper and lower peninsulas of the 26th state-granted statehood, making Michigan unlike any other in design. To move from one peninsula to the other, ferries used to carry travelers back and forth.
But in 1957, the Mackinac Bridge connected the two sides making the journey more convenient and safer. At 26,372 feet long, it is the third-longest suspension bridge in the world.
Even the critters are feeling a little out of sorts with the freezing temps. Oddly, a red-winged blackbird decided to make Wisconsin its winter residence and was hanging around one of the feeders at the nature center for a few days. The remaining critters encountered are conserving their energy for heat.
Posting in response to a question. How do you make iron water?
Making iron water is a simple process, involving a quart mason jar, water, and items that have plenty of rust. It takes about a month for the rust to incorporate and produce rich iron water.
Iron water is used in a variety of art projects. Two projects that I personally use it for are ink recipes and eco-printing.
My latest project of making sparked this question: https://adobe.ly/3vDNoHq
I've updated the post with a link to the video.
The bitter cold of Wisconsin winter is upon us. We were fortunate to have a mild winter up until this point. But, with this bitter cold, I'm finding activities that I can do inside to stay warm and toasty.
In December, I experimented with making ink from the elderberries in the freezer. For the past week, I have been grinding walnut hull powder to make additional ink.
Making elderberry ink is a creative and traditional process. It can be a do-it-yourself project. The process involves collecting ripe elderberries extracting their juice and then combining it with a binder and other ingredients. The ink is then strained and bottled for use.
I plan to use the ink for journaling in the coming months.
If you would like to learn more about the process of creating elderberry ink you can read my article where I outline the process: https://adobe.ly/3vDNoHq
The beautiful Covered Bridges Of Ashtabula County, Ohio
On a recent trip we drove through Ashtabula County and started to notice that the county had picturesque covered bridges that dotted the country side.
We stopped and explored a bunch on our way to our next destination.
It was relaxing day hiking along rivers and exploring each of the unique bridges among the fall colors.

The beauty of the Northern Cardinal! Northern cardinals breed up to three times in a given year, starting in May.
Normally, the female cardinal will sit on the nest to incubate the eggs and the male cardinal will protect the nest from intruders.
This is why you might see and hear a male cardinal flying from branch to branch chirping loudly at you during mating season.
