Anaheim was found in terrible pain and rushed into care for suspected chemical burns covering nearly one-third of his body. Wounds had formed from his head to his swollen, trembling paws; potential contaminants were rinsed from his body, and pain medication was administered right away. His front and rear right legs had wounds so extensive, we didn't know if they could be salvaged. We weren't even sure he'd survive...

Thanks to four months of sedated exams, intensive wound treatments, endless bandage changes, oral and topical medications, and several surgeries to remove damaged skin on his face, shoulder, and ear, the vet team was able to save his legs and his life. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน
Despite all he has endured, Anaheim remains endlessly affectionate, eagerly cuddling up to his care team, purring and headbutting through every encounter. ๐Ÿงก

While we have no way of knowing how he got into such an awful state, we do know there's still a lot of care left ahead of him before he's ready to be adopted into a home of his own.

We hope you can make a donation today to help Anaheim and animals like him receive vital care on their worst days when they have nowhere else to turn.
๐ŸŒŸ You can use the donate button below or visit https://wihumane.me/SupportAnaheim.
Thank you so much!

Meet Ryan, this week's SASS-tail from our friends at Star 98! This 7-year-old comes equipped with his own ever- wagging tail, a love of treats, and the best vibes. While in foster, he enjoyed playing with the resident dogs, was respectful of the cats in the home, and would take any opportunity to snuggle with his human friends. He has been neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated, and, like all of our dogs and puppies, his adoption fee is currently 50% off!

Will you share to help Tinkerbell find a home? ๐Ÿงšโ€โ™€๏ธ
This laid-back kitty can be shy at first, but that all changes when she learns you can provide ear scratches. She loves nothing more! ๐Ÿ’–
Tinkerbell is the star of the show and she is looking for a home without other cats. She has also tested positive for feline leukemia, which is a feline-only virus that compromises a catโ€™s immune system. Cats who test positive for FeLV can live for many years without serious symptoms. Tinkerbell's foster parent is well-versed in caring for cats with this condition, and she can help answer many of your questions!

If you have an abundance of cheek and ear scratches, love to share, and a cozy spot by a window, please reach out to her foster parents to set up a time to meet her! She has been spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated, plus you get to name your own adoption fee!
Learn more about her by emailing the foster family at [email protected] ๐Ÿ‘ˆ

Arenโ€™t seeing your match in the shelter? Explore our Virtual Rehoming page to discover incredible pets actively looking for caring individuals! By utilizing the online resource Home To Homeโ„ข, potential adopters are able to view animals out in the community who are in need of new families. This allows the animals to search for an adopter from the comfort of their current home, plus it leaves more room at the shelter for animals who don't already have an advocate.
All listings contain information from the current owners whom youโ€™ll work with directly to find out more about the animalโ€™s personality, ideal living situation, and to coordinate adoption.
If you're looking for a new best friend, be sure to bookmark this link: www.wihumane.org/virtual-rehoming. Choose โ€œSeeking a new pet,โ€ then click on the photo gallery to view the full list of available animals โค๏ธ

Crispy arrived at our Green Bay Campus shortly before his first birthday. Despite all his excitable puppy energy, he was visibly in pain whenever he tried using his front leg, and X-rays soon revealed the cause. The growth plates in the head of his femur were fractured and were now developing improperly. Crispy would need surgery to restore mobility in the joint and give him the pain-free life he deserved. With a successful procedure, a bit of time to heal, physical therapy, and regular veterinary check-ins, Crispy soon began feeling better, moving freely, and making up for all that lost playtime. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน

He is now the center of attention in a new family who spent the last ten years dreaming of having a dog; Crispy has effortlessly proven to them he was worth the wait. With no shortage of canine or human friends to play with, Crispy is enjoying all the love and fun his new life has to offer! โค๏ธ

๐Ÿ“ฃ Kitten season is upon us and we're already seeing an influx of tiny kittens in need of lifesaving care. When it comes to orphaned neonates (1 day โ€“ 4 weeks old), their only true chance at survival is in a foster home, as they need round-the-clock care we simply canโ€™t provide in the shelter.
If youโ€™re curious about what it takes to foster โ€œbottle babiesโ€ like these or cats of any age, please join our -FREE- online Kitten Fostering 101 session from 6-7 p.m. on Monday, June 10 via Zoom!
Thereโ€™s no pressure or obligation to sign up as a foster right away โ€“ just our staff sharing some info and answering any questions you may have. Space is limited, so register today at ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://wihumane.me/KittenFostering24 ๐Ÿ‘ˆ

๐Ÿ˜บLooking for a feline employee to help with rodent control?
We have some great "working cat" candidates for you! These types of cats are independent, under-socialized, and prefer to limit their interactions with people, so they are unable to be placed as household pets, but often thrive in outdoor environments like barns, stables, warehouses, etc. You provide the food, water, and shelter, and their presence will keep unwanted rodents at bay! ๐Ÿ‘€

Working cats often develop strong bonds with other cats, which is why we recommend adopting at least two at once. Over time, some cats even connect with their humans and create great relationships from afar.

All working cats have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested for FeLV, plus you get to name your own adoption fee!
Check out our working cats at www.wihumane.org/adopt ๐Ÿ‘ˆ(they are the ones with "working cat" after their name ๐Ÿ˜‰)
