This is a long one, but stay with me. I am about to type out one of those long winded food blog posts that I—and I’m sure all of us—normally navigate around by clicking “jump to recipe”. Feel free to scroll to the bottom if you want to know details about the cake; I swear I won’t be sad. But if you need a pick me up today, I promise it’s worth it. ♥️
I set out to make a cake for my soon to be sister in law as a warm welcome into our family and home last week, and ran into an old, mean friend of mine, otherwise known as Imposter Syndrome. It is an awful, awful thing. It’s that voice in your head that says “yes, but…” every time you set and hit a goal. It tells us we aren’t good enough, that we don’t deserve the things that we so often do, no matter what the facts are screaming. It makes us feel like the work we do is not good enough and never will be, no matter how much time or effort we volunteer from our daily lives into making something magical. Every person I know has felt it and been in its grasp and, more often than not, unnecessarily so.
Every step of the way, I felt like I wasn’t doing enough. Every creative person I know has hit this same big, scary wall at some point. This was the first order I had made in a while, and truthfully, it had zero stakes as far as practical concerns go. I was making a cake for a loved one, who had not asked me to do so, just because. But with each stroke of buttercream and each and every dash of edible glitter, that voice in my head was pushing me to find reasons it wouldn’t have been good enough. Reasons that I myself wasn’t good enough. I lovingly assembled and decorated the cake and felt like I was failing each step of the way. When I gave it to her, I told her repeatedly that I hoped she liked it and I was so sorry if it wasn’t up to par; she assured me that was definitely NOT going to be the case, and she seemed so absolutely sure that it made me feel like maybe that voice was wrong after all. I gave it to her during her bridal shower—a time where she and my brother were understandably very, VERY busy—and let her know that I would love any feedback that she had, and to let me know if there was anything wrong with it. After all, my inner monologue had told me so many times that I wasn’t going the distance, so of course they had to have something to report. Right?
About two days later, my phone blew up with texts from her and my brother, absolutely RAVING about the cake, and this very photo. They both thanked me and were so excited about the gift I’d given them. They sent me a photo of the cake with a huge chunk taken out where they’d been devouring it. My brother apologized that they hadn’t gotten a picture of the whole thing, even though I had forgotten to myself thanks to doubting what I was doing, but that they loved it and it was delicious. My brother sent me some pretty intense texts about how much he loved it. 😂
It was comical, sure, but also something so much more; it was undeniable proof that the voice, MY voice, had been completely wrong. It was the love for my family shining through the very thing I doubted was good enough. A reminder that because I had pushed through my doubts, someone’s life was just a bit better, even if only for as long as it took to eat those chunks of buttercream and crumbs, because of me. That I made a difference to someone.
Doubts and worries will always be there, in everything that you do. You will often question what you’re doing or that if you even know what you are doing in the first place. You will not think it is good enough. You will think there might be no point. But I am here to remind you to take that chance. Risk it! You may fail, and you may succeed, but no matter what happens, you DID IT! Your efforts will not go unnoticed by the ones that matter. You are worth all of the happiness that you put out into the world! If you fail, you will learn a lesson, and if you succeed, you will have made someone’s life and day better, or easier, even if just for a fleeting moment. And what is the point of life if not helping each other be a little bit happier every day?
You CAN do the thing, you deserve to do it, and you absolutely should. We need more kindness and happiness in the world. Let it start with you. ♥️
The cake was a lemon sour cream cake with strawberry reduction and white chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream, covered in as much pretty decor as I could muster. Hi friends! Long time no update, and I am truly sorry for that. As many of you know, baking is not my full time profession, and as such, it tends to take a backseat when life throws curveball after curveball. As some of you know—and many of you probably don’t—the last year has been incredibly difficult over here at Delexious. My grandmother was diagnosed late last year with a terminal illness and it rocked my entire family, especially when it came to living situations. My partner and I took up the mantle and moved about an hour south to take care of my parent’s estate while my mother was a live in caretaker. Shortly after we moved in, their dream property fell into their laps, and they took the opportunity, while graciously extending us an invitation as well. So two moves in six months later, we are now even further south, and coastal now! With this move, we are hoping for more stability, and of course the eventual option to run this fun, exciting, scary, and wonderful adventure I’ve started on full time!
To my new friends in Whiteville and Wilmington, welcome in! And to our Greensboro friends, I cannot thank you enough for sticking with me and supporting my goals and ambitions. I have always wanted to create something special centered around community, and it wouldn’t be possible without the love and support of all of YOU! I am so happy and honored that I have been invited to be a part of your lives and your social media feeds. ♥️ I hope to be able to bake and share goodies with you more frequently now that things have settled down a bit, but please know that even without the opportunity to whip up something delicious, I will always and forever be grateful for the support.
Life always has a funny way of keeping you on your toes. I hope it extends the same sense of adventure and blessings on you! Hi, I’m Lexi! I am a hobby baker that currently works full time in the medical field. This is a hobby baking page that I started to chronicle the many orders, trials, products, and experiments that I try as I work towards opening my own business. I began baking as a hobby back in 2019, and since have started growing the amount of friends and customers that I have had at a fast enough rate that I decided to make a page for the tasty creations I come up with! Though I’m known for cake and cupcakes, I also love making cookies, pies, bread, scones, muffins, and other tasty treats! The page has been quiet for some time as orders have died down in the wake of us moving to a new city. After the beginning of the year, all the treats you see will be located in Star, NC! After the beginning of the year, we will return to our regularly scheduled drool-worthy posts to brighten your feed. 🤤🥰

Caramel apple and strawberry lemonade are two classic flavor combinations with endless possibilities! I was honored to be asked to make a cake celebrating sobriety for a dear friend, whose overcome so very much. We are all very proud of her and how far she has come! The dulce de leche cake, caramel apple filling, and salted caramel buttercream is definitely something I’ll be revisiting again as the flavors were phenomenal together! 🍎🍏🍎
Strawberry lemonade is a classic for a reason, and the challenge to make sweet rolls was one I happily took on! They were a perfect splash of sunshine to kick off this warmer weather. 🍋♥️🍓

As we wind down another year of all things sweet, I am reminded how grateful I am to be able to do what I do. The last few months have been quiet for me here at Delexious, but extremely chaotic in aspects outside of it with many life changes and shuffling around. But despite the chaos, I am filled with hope. This year I am hoping to continue to grow and hone my craft, and to bring joy to those who need it, as well as be able to provide bigger and better updates. Big things are coming!

Hey there! I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you that came out and supported Delexious at the Greensboro Bark for Life event this past weekend! I had a blast meeting lots of new friendly faces, wagging tails, and sharing Cupcakes and Pupcakes with all of you! It was an amazing pop up and the first of many to come in the upcoming year.
These apple/pumpkin/carrot pupcakes with peanut butter “frosting” were a hit with all of our furry friends that I shared them with, and will definitely be added to the menu for future ordering! They were absolutely adorable as minis, and I am hopeful to try the recipe as a whole cake soon. 🐕🦺🐕🦮🐩🦴🐾
Did you know I make more than just cakes and cupcakes? Cookies have always been a long-standing favorite of mine! I love coming up with new ideas and testing them out—and I’m sure my taste testers don’t mind. This round was dedicated to perfecting my s’mores cookie recipe. This time I went for a thicker, chewier cake like cookie and it was PHENOMENAL 🍪😉

Hello NC friends! As a few of you may already know, we lost a wonderful, giving soul this past week when Tina gained her wings. She was an amazing shining soul and she was full of laughter and willingness to help anyone, anytime. I will be holding another cake raffle in her honor! The winner can choose either a 3-layer, 6” cake or 2 dozen cupcakes, with banana pudding flavor or strawberry crunch. The winner can choose whichever they like, since they were her two favorite flavors. 🍌🍓💕
Tickets are $5.00 each and there is no limit to how many you can buy. I will be doing the digital drawing on April 30th. ANY AND ALL proceeds from this raffle will be going to her family to help cover funeral costs and to help during this incredibly difficult time. I can accept cash, Zelle, or Venmo. If you would like to donate without a ticket, they have a GoFundMe set up, or I can add it to the raffle total I’ll be giving them. Due to the nature of this raffle, and the delivery, this raffle is only open to those of our friends in NC.

When it comes to my mom...I tend to to a bit overboard. She gave me creative freedom for her birthday cake; I took that as an opportunity to try new flavors and techniques. My mom’s birthday cake for this year was extra fancy, and it is one of the cakes I have been the most proud of in my baking journey. Buttermilk vanilla bean cake was layered with whipped cheesecake filling, raspberry and strawberry reduction, and white chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream to create her birthday yummies! It was a hit!

Trying new techniques is always a leap of faith, and you never quite know what to expect. For this birthday cake this year, I decided to try my hand at some more advanced frosting and cake techniques that I had my eye on for a long time. Painting the buttercream leopard rosettes was something I enjoyed far more than I thought it would! I hope to do more hand painted cakes in the future. Also note the leopard print inside of the cake! This was a lemon and white chocolate cake, with Swiss meringue buttercream and raspberry champagne filling! Thanks to the customer for the images to share! 🐆🎂🎉

Just a little Friday pick me up! This order was out of the normal for me and I loved it. These dark chocolate Guinness cupcakes are divine, and the whiskey salted caramel frosting and homemade boozy caramel drizzle are the perfect thing to hold the door open to this weekend. Bourbon makes everything better—these cupcakes are no exception!

As someone who is perpetually cold, winter isn’t my strongest season. These chilly, dreary days have been taking a toll on everyone where I am. One of my favorite things to do during this time is bake bright, happy summer flavors for a quick pick me up! These lemon cremé cupcakes with raspberry buttercream hit the spot just right today! A coworker was spreading her wings and heading to a job that would give her more time at home with her kids, and I wanted to send her off with some good luck. And what better way to do it? 🍋🧁❤️
