RCID and the Greensboro CRS was one of the critical sites for HPTN 083 which having proven superiority of long acting PrEP in form of Cabotegravir vs oral PrEP in form of Truvada led to FDA approving FIRST Long Acting PrEP. what a transformative moment for HIV prevention!!

FDA Approves First Injectable Treatment for HIV Pre-Exposure Prevention The FDA approved Apretude (cabotegravir extended-release injectable suspension) for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to reduce the risk of sexually acquired HIV.
