π Help us celebrate Iaisha, our store manager in High Point (π5301 Samet Drive), and Michael, our logistics recycling supervisor, who both graduated from the PLUS+ Program through the Business High Point - Chamber of Commerce this summer! π
The PLUS+ Program is an eight-week program that trains nonprofit managers in the fundamental skills and knowledge to help them be effective leaders in their current and future roles. Sessions build skills in three areas: managing self; managing others; and managing the business.
π From Iaisha:
The program was a wonderful experience that allowed me to collaborate with others, gave me knowledge of other non-profits, brainstorming, how to handle different situations, and just enlightened me overall personally and professionally.
It overall was a delight! I learned things about myself and a broad amount of information about non-profit organizations. I met some great people and got great knowledge. Thank you for the 9 weeks!!!!
π From Michael:
This class has impacted me by giving me an ability to communicate effectively. Before I was focused more on me and not quite on teamwork -- this class has helped me turn that mindset around, to engage in teamwork more and to become more team oriented than before. It makes me look at the corporate structure more and say everyone in upper management is just as responsible for the success of a company as everyone else.
Congratulations, Celina! πππ
Celina, our community and business engagement manager, graduated from Leadership High Point through the Business High Point - Chamber of Commerce this summer.
Leadership High Point is a 10-month program that transforms enthusiastic and engaged citizens into community champions by immersing participants in community culture, leadership capacity curriculum, and volunteer opportunities to ignite change.
π Help us celebrate Damien, our logistics supervisor, and Sharon, store manager for our brand new store in Greensboro (π5835 W Gate City Blvd!), who both graduated from the Leadership Academy through the Business High Point - Chamber of Commerce this summer! π
The Leadership Academy provides local experts on key leadership topics that will assist with learning more about your leadership style, as well as strategies for staff management, team collaboration, navigating a multi-generational and diverse workforce, strategic planning, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, inclusion, cultural awareness and more.
π From Damien:
First I just want to say that I am thankful to have had the opportunity to participate in the Leadership Academy. I honestly feel like a lot that I learned has helped me out in my personal life as well.
π From Sharon:
I went into the class with a Fixed Mindset but came out with a Growth Mindset: As a manager, how was I going to sit for 4 hours in class? That is not a typical day for me, but I did it.
I have learned a lot about me and how to continue to grow as a leader. The class helped with my day to day struggles as a manager as well as my everyday life at home with my family.
We had an amazing time learning and networking last week at synerG's annual Lead Your City summit!

Our career navigation team took a group tour of our community partner The Barnabas Network this week!
As a furniture bank, The Barnabas Network provides everything a client needs to make a house feel like a home, right when it will provide the most impact. From beds (more than 1,500 a year, with about half of those going to school-age children) to dressers to bathroom essentials, each family goes home with about a 15-square foot trailer's worth of life-changing housewares, appliances, mattresses, and more.

Follow your feet to our Halloween goodies with costumes, decor, DIY supplies, inspo, and more with these spooky floor decals. Thank you UPrinting for supporting nonprofits this spooky season!
Fun Fact: 90% of the decor you see in my dining room fireplace has been thrifted from Goodwill and or yard sales. Some items you may even remember from last yearβs autumn blog. Iβm always frugal, thrifting often, and repurposing items in my home.
Did you happen to see the beautiful wooden leaf garland above the fireplace? Found at Triad Goodwill for $9.99 π (π· IG: lovely_ashleyb)

I was rewatching Pretty Little Liars and saw Aria Montgomery wearing the tie skirt that trended on social media last year. I had forgotten how cute the skirt was and thought that would be a cute piece to wear for the fall. Combining denim and ties to create a maxi skirt came to mind easily from there.
