We invite our acquaintances & friends in Morehouse Parish to stop by and visit with Pops. We took this trip and opportunity to show on our visit to my wife Teri's 94 yr old mom Frances Hurst. An extra bonus is that Teri's 54th Bastrop High Reunion is this weekend as well.

A fun and inspiring weekend at Quilt Con in Raleigh, NC! We greeted two of our favorite nationally known artists, Cindy Grisdela & Maria Shell. We listened to 5 different lectures and were overwhelmed with the creativity of these modern quilts!

The Flip the Coin Orange series consists of 2 originals which complement each other as a paired compact and dynamic grouping for home decor. Other color combinations in the Flip the Coin series emerge from the studio regularly.

Edited from the original art quilt "Gee Whiz 2" Pops chose to tilt this image "on edge" to create a dynamic selection for the contemporary home or office.The original art quilt "Gee Whiz 2" is one of a series inspired by the iconic Gees Bend, Alabama quilters. A visit to the Gees Bend Quilt Collective introduced Pops and Momma Rose to the abstract improv quilts of this group of descendents of slaves whose talents were discovered and curated in modern art venues around the worrld in the late 20th Century. This reproduction of the original art quilt offers many sizes in fine art paper, canvas, or metal print all ready to hang..

Gees Bend 1 / Triptych 2

"Gees Bend 1 / Triptych 2" is one of three print reproduction blocks from the original quilt 'Gees Bend 1", the first in a series of original art quilts by Momma Rose started after a 2017 visit to Gees Bend, Alabama and interaction with a few of the Gees Bend Quilt Collective members. This group of artists was discovered in the 1980's and have exhibited their work in the Museum of Modern Art.. Their iconic abstract, geometric, and slightly wonky designs have influenced modern art quilters. for decades and have become much studied and timeless classics much like the exacting works of the Amish tradition. This print reproduction is just one of the original vertical design of three log cabin blocks assembled from custom made stripes pieced from solid cotton fabric. The sashiko hand quilting adds a soft handmade dimensional quality to the original and a visual complement to the print version. The full set of three triptych squares make a dynamic wall grouping that may be arranged in a vertical or landscape format to enhance the contemporary or transitional home or office decor.
