You may be more familiar with this man right here, "The King" Richard Petty, but did you know that his father, Lee Petty, was a NASCAR pioneer in his own right? Beginning his career in 1949 at age 35, Lee would go on to claim 50 wins, including three NASCAR championships and the top spot at the inaugural Daytona 500 in February 1959. He passed away 23 years ago today, on April 5, 2000. In 1950, he won the season finale at Occoneechee Speedway, which is now a stop on the new Moonshine and Motorsports Trail. Dear Friends,

In the spring of 2020 before masks were available, EZ Alterations sewed cloth masks for community use. We sold masks at cost and donated 75 masks to Cone Hospital. Iris McGee sewed every single day from March 2020 to Easter late into the night. This is our belief.

Guilford Co. now has a mask mandate effective Friday 8/13/21. Businesses and public places must require their patrons to wear masks.
