The final day of the Silber Bells Tour was absolutely perfect.
It started with several coworkers joining me to ring the bell (along with Meteorologist Tim Buckley playing trumpet!) and ended with singers and musicians from St. Pius X entertaining shoppers at the final tour stop.
It’s been an incredible week.
THANK YOU to everyone who donated or played a role in making it a success! ❤️
Day 4 of the Silber Bells Tour featured law enforcement and school-aged singers!
A big THANK YOU to the Winston-Salem police chief and Forsyth County Sheriff’s deputies for supporting the cause.
Shoppers got to enjoy chorus groups from Asheboro HS and Fayetteville Street Christian School.
My good friend Noah helped me ring - and Meteorologist Christian Morgan made a guest appearance in his hometown!
Day 3 of the Silber Bells Tour featured some of the most adorable visitors - dogs in Christmas sweaters!!
We also got to hear carols from “Tuba Dave” and had a tasty visit from some of my favorite viewers, Brenda and Kristi.
I also got a surprise guest bell-ringer - an old colleague and friend, Casey!
Looking forward to Day 4!
Day 2 of the Silber Bells Tour did not disappoint!
I met some great viewers - the highlight of the day was when the Carolina Girls dance group from the Reidsville Senior Center joined me for some dancing.
Don’t ask me how I did when I tried to join them 😂
Day 1 of the Silber Bells Tour was better than expected!
Several coworkers came out to help me ring the bell - even Governor Cooper stopped by to donate!

THIS POST IS WORTH THE READ.
A Wake County detention officer collapsed while working in a jail dorm and inmates ran to her aid to help save her life.
The Wake County Sheriff’s Office commends several inmates for their quick thinking and compassion shown at the Wake County Detention Center.
Last Thursday, one of our detention officers suffered a medical emergency while supervising a detention center dorm. The inmates immediately noticed our officer appeared to be feeling poorly as she was sitting at her desk. A few moments later, the medical situation caused her to fall to the floor, unconscious.
Without hesitation, the inmates ran to her aid. Two of the inmates in the dorm called for help using the officer’s radio. They knew exactly what call to make, and help arrived almost immediately. Others started banging on the door to get the attention of anyone passing by.
We are thankful that our officer survived, and she is currently recovering at home.
Inmates are not obligated to help our officers in a vulnerable state, but they chose empathy, and they did not delay. This incident highlights the importance of mutual respect between our detention officers and those entrusted to our care.
"The inmates responded and provided care until help arrived. We thank our staff and the inmates for the professional relationships they have built to better serve and assist one another," Sheriff Willie Rowe said.
Keefe, our commissary vendor, will be donating commissary snack bags for the inmates in the dorm. We are grateful to these inmates for the courage and kindness they displayed.
We are looking into ways to recognize their actions appropriately.
"Our detention officer had her radio on her, she had keys on her, she had OC spray, and this situation could have gone a different way, but it didn't, and they helped her," Detention Director Dail Butler said. "When we thanked the inmates after it happened, their first concern was how she was doing."
I was tasked with bringing a dessert to the WFMY News 2 potluck today so I baked cookies!

Oh my gosh! This video shows firefighters protecting a house in Patrick County, Virginia from a wildfire. Firefighters told us conditions are very dry and fires are easily igniting.
When my parents visited, they came bearing tasty gifts!
-Cranberry sausage and cheese from a cranberry festival in my hometown.
-Homemade pickles
-Spotted Cow beer, only sold in Wisconsin
-of course, I had to use all three together!
You likely don’t recognize this guy but he plays a pivotal role here at WFMY News 2.
His name is Brian - but we refer to him as “BHall.”
He’s at the heart of our sports team as a photographer and producer.
Basically, any time you see sports stories, highlights or interviews, there’s a good chance he shot it.
I caught him on the sidelines at the Panthers game and wanted to give him a shoutout.
Even though it was an ugly game, I had a great time with friends whom I haven’t seen in a while!
Enjoying the first early sunset watching the Carolina Panthers!
I love a late afternoon game because you get the daylight and nighttime views.
Had to salvage what I could ahead of the freezing temperatures! We’ll see if the green tomatoes ripen up at all!
I couldn’t let Meteorologist Christian Morgan win the Halloween outfit game!
Happy Halloween from Charlette and Benjamin!
