How do you like Greenville? - I enjoy Greenville and its mountain scenery; it reminds me a bit of my years in Boone, NC.
Where are you in your PhD journey? - I am currently in the dissertation phase of my academic journey at Texas Tech University. This phase has been filled with challenges, learnings, and immense personal growth. Despite the hurdles along the way, I consider myself incredibly fortunate to be on this journey.
What are you researching? - My dissertation focuses on analyzing the stigmas and strengths within the African American LGBTQ+ community concerning the seeking and receiving of mental health services. It is crucial that we consistently address the concept of intersectionality to thoroughly comprehend our social position, enabling us to better serve clients as mental health professionals.
What do you like about your roles at Converse? - In all of my roles—teaching, supervising, and serving as a Clinical Director—I value the connections established with the students. Prioritizing connection and collaboration within a system is important to me, and I consistently strive to implement these principles across all my roles here at UCG.
