As promised, our 5th-8th grade students had their first FRIDAY CIRCLE of the year today! 🥳🎉 It was awesome to see them having fun together, sharing what they’ve been learning in Crew, and being celebrated by our staff.

We gave a special shoutout to our volleyball team! 🏐📸 They are gearing up for their first game tonight at Shannon Forest. We can’t wait to cheer them on at their first home game on September 2nd. Mark your calendars!!

We love having elementary and middle school students all in one building. 🥹

It was extra special as our 8th graders, many of whom have been with us since K5, had the chance to watch our kindergarteners shine during their Celebration of Learning and promotion ceremony during the last week of school. 🌟

📢 Our 6th - 8th grade Spanish class students had a fantastic time practicing their Spanish skills on their trip to La Unica earlier this year.

They had the opportunity to order food in Spanish and explore a variety of cultural items. 🌟

Our 4th grade students had a blast rock climbing at Bloc Haven last week as they closed out their year together! 🧗🎉🤗

Our 3rd graders performed Beauty and the Beast Jr last week! 🌹 🎶🏰

All in a day, our 7th and 8th graders visited the Buckingham Fountain, Art Institute of Chicago, and Field Museum and topped off the day with Chicago style Deep Dish and a one of a kind performance at Blue Man Group. ⛲️🖼️🦖🍕📸

Needless to say, so many memories made! 🥹📸

Our 5th and 6th graders had the time of their lives on their end-of-year trip to ACE Adventure Resort in West Virginia! 🎉🚌🌟

From conquering the mud course and whitewater rapids, to zip-lining and rappelling through the trees, braving the aerial park, devouring s’mores by the campfire, and enjoying the water park on the lake - every moment was been an adventure they'll never forget! 🚣‍♂️🌲🔥

🎭 On Tuesday we had the pleasure of hosting Warehouse Theatre actors who brought to LIFE plays that were written by 10 of our very own theatre students! It was incredible to witness our students’ creativity and hard work and to see their peers celebrate them. 🤩🥹

6th-8th grade students in Spanish class have a blast playing Lotería, a traditional Mexican family game. 🤩🎉

➡️ Fun fact: 8th graders read the book Summer of the Mariposas earlier this year, which references Lotería!

It’s so much fun to see students enjoy this lighthearted game, make connections with their reading, and all while practicing Spanish! 📚🌟❤️

Over the past few weeks, our students at Lead Academy have been witnessing the transformation of caterpillars into beautiful butterflies in the STEM classroom! 🐛➡️🦋

Last Friday, our 2nd-grade students released these butterflies into the wild during their field trip to Conestee Nature Preserve since their expedition “Oh, the Places We Will Grow!” is all about pollinators. 🌳🌼

It’s a special thing for kids to see the growth of another while they are growing too. 🥹

They recently put their engineering skills to the test by creating bridges out of straws and tape. 🌉👏 We are so proud of their creativity and problem-solving abilities!

🎨✨ Exciting Update from our Middle School Art Class! 🖌️🌟

Our students delved into the fascinating world of batik! Batik is the process of dyeing fabric using a resist technique. 👕 They explored the rich history and intricate process of this art form, where fabric comes to life with vibrant colors and patterns.

Here's a sneak peek into their creative journey:
1️⃣ Designing unique patterns and tracing them with clear glue onto fabric.
2️⃣ Adding bursts of color using droppers and foam brushes to bring their designs to life.
3️⃣ And the magic moment - removing the glue with water, unveiling their stunning designs on the fabric canvas!

But the fun doesn't stop there! ➡️ Soon, these masterpieces will be transformed into functional textiles like pillows or small tote bags, showcasing the creativity and craftsmanship of our budding artists. 🎉

🌿🌍 What an amazing Earth Day celebration at Lead Academy! 🌟 On Tuesday, April 23rd, our students in grades K-2 took part in hands-on activities to grow their knowledge surrounding sustainability, plants, recycling, and contributing to a better Earth.

It was a FULL day as our students…

🌱 Made seed bombs to plant in their community
🌎 Played Earth Day bingo to show off their eco-smarts
♻️ Created bracelets out of recycled materials (hello, paper egg cartons!)
🌿 Created sustainability necklaces to learn about recycling
🎨 Crafted an earth collage that's out of this world
💚 Took a pledge to take action to help care for our planet

It's truly heartwarming to watch our students dive into activities that help our planet. 💚🌍 Their enthusiasm gives us hope for a brighter tomorrow. Let's keep working together to make a real difference!
