As promised, our 5th-8th grade students had their first FRIDAY CIRCLE of the year today! π₯³π It was awesome to see them having fun together, sharing what theyβve been learning in Crew, and being celebrated by our staff.
We gave a special shoutout to our volleyball team! ππΈ They are gearing up for their first game tonight at Shannon Forest. We canβt wait to cheer them on at their first home game on September 2nd. Mark your calendars!!

It was extra special as our 8th graders, many of whom have been with us since K5, had the chance to watch our kindergarteners shine during their Celebration of Learning and promotion ceremony during the last week of school. π
Throwing it back to field day with giant parachute games! Such a blast seeing our students come together for some EPIC fun. π πΈ
π’ Our 6th - 8th grade Spanish class students had a fantastic time practicing their Spanish skills on their trip to La Unica earlier this year.
They had the opportunity to order food in Spanish and explore a variety of cultural items. π
Our 4th grade students had a blast rock climbing at Bloc Haven last week as they closed out their year together! π§ππ€

All in a day, our 7th and 8th graders visited the Buckingham Fountain, Art Institute of Chicago, and Field Museum and topped off the day with Chicago style Deep Dish and a one of a kind performance at Blue Man Group. β²οΈπΌοΈπ¦ππΈ

Our 5th and 6th graders had the time of their lives on their end-of-year trip to ACE Adventure Resort in West Virginia! πππ
From conquering the mud course and whitewater rapids, to zip-lining and rappelling through the trees, braving the aerial park, devouring sβmores by the campfire, and enjoying the water park on the lake - every moment was been an adventure they'll never forget! π£ββοΈπ²π₯

Last Friday, our 2nd-grade students released these butterflies into the wild during their field trip to Conestee Nature Preserve since their expedition βOh, the Places We Will Grow!β is all about pollinators. π³πΌ

Our students delved into the fascinating world of batik! Batik is the process of dyeing fabric using a resist technique. π They explored the rich history and intricate process of this art form, where fabric comes to life with vibrant colors and patterns.
Here's a sneak peek into their creative journey:
1οΈβ£ Designing unique patterns and tracing them with clear glue onto fabric.
2οΈβ£ Adding bursts of color using droppers and foam brushes to bring their designs to life.
3οΈβ£ And the magic moment - removing the glue with water, unveiling their stunning designs on the fabric canvas!
But the fun doesn't stop there! β‘οΈ Soon, these masterpieces will be transformed into functional textiles like pillows or small tote bags, showcasing the creativity and craftsmanship of our budding artists. π
πΏπ What an amazing Earth Day celebration at Lead Academy! π On Tuesday, April 23rd, our students in grades K-2 took part in hands-on activities to grow their knowledge surrounding sustainability, plants, recycling, and contributing to a better Earth.
