Church Family - please be in prayer for the family of Helen Atkinson. Pastor Chris received word this morning from her daughter that she passed away last night. They are doing a graveside service at Woodlawn this Saturday at 3:00. If you have any questions please reach out to Pastor Chris.

This was something that was not seen in the live but it is too good not to tell, God continues to bless the church of West Gantt.

Duncan Henderson, Hannah Henderson, Antonio Mejia, Uli, Gavin and Chris Bates spent the evening meeting and greeting college students at NGU’s Church Fair. Grateful for our Christian Universities who care about their students finding a church home! Go Trailblazers!

We NEED YOU! Good News Club at Grove Elementary is on track to have a RECORD NUMBER of kids! We already have 85 registered with a few more weeks to go before we kick off. If you’re available from 2-4 on Tuesday afternoons and are willing to help PLEASE reach out to Pastor Chris or Katie Dalton!

We are excited to partner with Bon Secours as a location for their Mobile Medical Van. The Mobile Medical Van will be onsite tomorrow from 8am-3pm. See the info below for information on the services offered.

We are thankful to be a part of the Day of Prayer for Greenville County Schools. A group of our volunteers gathered and prayed over 5 local schools and several partnering organizations this morning. We love our teachers, admins, staff, kids and families!

Don’t forget - the pickleball courts will be open from 6-9 tonight. Our normal leader is out of town this week. We will do our best to have the nets up and running at 6:00 but may be a little behind due to work schedules of other volunteers. If you beat us there just hang tight and we’ll get the nets up as soon as we can!

Thank you volunteers from The Church at West Gantt and Rockvale Baptist who came today to pack 700 student packets for Grove Elementary! Don’t forget we have Day of Prayer on Saturday. We will meet at the church at 9:00 AM to load the vans and pray over 5 of our local schools.

To our wonderful and supportive Church family, as Good News Club begins in just a little over a month, please remember we can ALWAYS use volunteers! And even if you think kids aren't necessarily your thing, there is always something you can do! If you are available on Tuesdays, even if its not every Tuesday, and are interested, please reach out to Katie Dalton or Pastor Chris! The background check process is simple and is at no cost to us! We'll guide you step by step through everything and before you know it, you'll be sharing the love of Christ with children who so desperately need it, even if its just through a friendly smile, handing them their snack or holding open the door for them! Come join us, you won't regret it!

It's that time again! We're soooo excited to once again be partnering with Child Evangelism Fellowship to take the Good News to Grove Elementary School students through the Good News Club! We will meet on Tuesday afternoons from after school until 4pm! If you know a student who is interested, share the online registration link below to have them sign up, or pick up a form from the school during Meet the Teacher night! The first 20 students who sign up and are in attendance on the first day of club will receive a special gift!

Back to School Kick Off -
We had one last summer hoorah before school starts back. Thanks to all who came out and joined us! And thanks to all of our NXT GEN volunteers who make this ministry awesome! 👏 👏

Introducing - The Blessing Box
We are excited to begin a new ministry through our Community Blessing Box. Thank you Robert Neal for getting it built and installed so quickly! The Blessing Box is a resource for those around us who may need a little pick me up to get through the week. They can stop by anytime, day or night and get a little blessing to keep them going. It will include food items, toiletries, children’s resources, etc. And that’s where you come in! We will have a list available on Sunday of needed items to keep the blessings flowing. A collection bin for donated items will available in the Welcome Center beside the coffee station. We have a team that will be sorting the donations and stocking the blessing box throughout the week. If you’d like to join that team let us know! We are looking forward to being a blessing to those in need around us!

Dear Church family,
I wanted to take a moment and address the news about the assassination attempt on former President Trump. I am deeply saddened by the state of our country and the lengths that some will go to in the name of political power. Today’s events will drive a myriad of responses from people across the political spectrum. Some will respond in fear, others in anger and outrage. Some will call for swift and immediate action. Others will speculate about the impact this will have at the polls. Some will rally around Trump with renewed fervor while others will declare their unfortunate desire to have seen this attempt be successful. Social media will become a bloody battleground of words, and political rallies will quite possibly become settings for incitement and radicalism from both sides rather than pleas for unity and justice. Hate and division will be all too prevalent in the coming days. In the midst of this tidal wave of passionate responses, where should we stand? Regardless of your political views let me remind you of a few key things from scripture:

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
Micah 6:8

In this passage we find three commands that tell us what is good.
1. Do Justice - stand for what is right. This is not a time for soft morals. There is no doubt that what was done today was evil and wrong. We need to stand as believers on the truth of God’s Word and act justly according to them.

However… command 1 is balanced by commands 2 and 3.

2. Love kindness - some translations will say mercy. As we pursue justice we need to act in kindness and mercy towards those around us. Political views give us no excuse to ignore Jesus’ commands to “love God and love our neighbor as ourselves.” In fact, Jesus called these the greatest commands. So understand that the command to love God and love your neighbor supersedes your allegiance to a political figure. Stand on truth, speak in mercy.

3. And if all of that seems too difficult, then just follow command number 3 - Walk Humbly with Your God. Walking humbly requires us to put our agendas aside and trust God’s plans. So before you post that meme, sling that insult or cast judgment on the car in front of you with opposing bumper sticker, pause and remind yourself of God’s love for that person and walk humbly in His heartbeat towards them.

While I am saddened by today’s news, I am also inspired to pray even harder for our nation, our leaders and our neighbors. We cannot give into fear and hatred. We must stand on truth and cast out fear with perfect love. Will you join with me in pleading with God to heal our nation? Will you commit to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with God?

We kicked our 10:9 WKND off with some good food and fun last night. Lots of bonding over competition and mountain coasters. Today we started our morning talking about Gods design and purpose for marriage. We defined what a marriage covenant is, the importance of keeping it, and the impact it has on future generations. We were challenged by the questions “does our marriage point to Jesus,” and “are there any parts of our marriage that Jesus is not woven into.” We have a couple more sessions today with more topics and then date night on the town tonight.

Be praying for 2 groups of people this weekend -
1) Tyler Kimbrell is headed to Utah with a missions team to do street evangelism and share the love of Jesus. He leaves early on Saturday morning. Pray for traveling safety and the work of the Holy Spirit.
2) We have a group of couples headed to Gatlinburg today for our 10:9 WKND Marriage Retreat. Pray that God would strengthen their marriages and bless their time!
