Foster describes dog as super duper sweet and a major love bug!
Update on Black Lab in Anderson, SC! After 3 months of living in the woods, we finally have won him over! He is in a foster home right now, but he needs a permanent home. He doesnโt like being inside all the time so he needs to be an inside and outside dog. Someone that has a fenced in yard. He turned out to be the sweetest dog as you see in the photos!! A big thanks to Joe that noticed him 2 weeks ago and won him over with wet food! And Luke that who helped me feed him for the past 3 months. All the animal shelters were full of dogs and could not help us. He was checked for a microchip and did not have one. If you are interested in adopting him, please contact me.
Greenville, SC.
Drop off of 96 dogs/puppies to one local shelter in just 3 days this week...sigh ....and many more have been thrown over the fences or tied, abandoned to the gates at the facility if they weren't allowed to surrender or didn't want to face anyone in the process.(I'll include a pic of just one abandoned...and yes she is tiny so she has been adopted/and or rescued...she was terrified and I believe had to be sedated just to get her groomed from all the matting in her hair).
I know most must look away from the horrible tragedy that has continued to spiral out of control in our Upstate Shelters and shelters across the state/nation who continue in HIgh Emergency Status, with employees pleading for help from the public. It is just too sad to see how inhumane our animal welfare laws and practices in the State of SC have become given the out of control numbers of our pet populations in 2023.
Healthy, young adoptable dogs are put down weekly (some daily) to allow space for the abundance of new dogs needed to be dropped of by the public, animal control or police. It's truly awful and unconciouble that it is allowed to be a continued practice. There are no longer abiliities for local shelters to remain "no kill" (they would like to), as the resources cannot support the overgrown daily population. It is not the shelters fault and the Community has to recognize how inhumane we as a state and local community have allowed our treatment of unclaimed, abused and neglected pets to become.
The only way that change may come forth is by ensuring that our elected representatives/ officials know that we are not ok with the flawed (and lack there of) laws and procedures that continually allow animals to be failed by the human population that they trust so much. There doesn't appear to be enough money surrounding this issue to have our politicians take notice of it as is currently , but our community has to.

๐ Annie ๐ Greenville, SC
This medium sized (40 pounds), sweet girl is ready for her forever family ๐ She is spayed, heartworm negative and up to date on all vaccines. Please share to help her find her right family and contact Nancy Norman for interest in Annie ๐
๐ซA message from her foster mom:๐ซ
โWe have been fostering Annie (Bananie) through her heartworm treatment, and she is now ready for her forever home.
Annie loves people, travels well in the car, is doing well on leash, and is learning her commands, like place, sit, down, wait, heel and here (come). She is also fully house broken, crate trained and non destructive.
Baths, nail trims and vet visits are a non issue.
Her perfect home would be a chill home as an only dog with occasional play sessions. While Annie is a low to medium energy dog, she does have prey drive and loves short play sessions with her human(s) and a toy. Overall, she is pretty low maintenance.โ
November is Adopt-A-Senior-Pet Month! โค
