-UPDATE-
A little after 2pm, crews were dispatched to Highway 153 at Norwood drive for a two vehicle accident with entrapment. Station 19 and Station 24 were also called to assist. Upon arrival, apparatuses were used to block one lane heading towards Powdersville and one lane headed towards Easley to create a safe working area. Crews confirmed entrapment and also confirmed that one patient was deceased. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to the hospital for injuries. Traffic control was conducted while SCHP and the Anderson County Coroner’s Office completed their investigation. The scene was cleared after approximately two hours. Please keep the patient’s family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate through this difficult time.
Powdersville, Three and Twenty Fire Department Sta.19, and Wren Fire Dept 24 are currently working an MVA on Highway 153 near Norwood drive. Traffic will be heavily affected in the area for quite some time so please find an alternate route.
*MULTIPLE INCIDENTS ON 7/9*
Yesterday, crews had a hot and long day. The first call of the day was at 12:23PM for a MVA in front of Chick-fil-A in which SCHP needed assistance with traffic control. Less than an hour later, units responded to reports of a tree down on structure. No injuries on arrival. Another MVA was dispatched at 4:45PM on Highway 153 near Ravenwood Circle. A commercial vehicle hit a low hanging wire which ended up breaking the pole. Crews remained on scene to assist with redirecting traffic until the power company could arrive.
Approximately an hour later, another MVA was dispatched on Highway 153 between Hood Road and Roe Road. The impact caused one of the vehicles to veer across the roadway and strike a guardrail. Two patients were transported for injuries. Traffic heading westbound was severely impacted due to both lanes being shut down while EMS and fire crews assisted the patients. Both directions were reopened after about two hours.
Members had gathered back at the station to complete scheduled truck checks when a motorist stopped by to notify of a vehicle vs moped accident below the station on Highway 81 at Piedmont Road. Crews arrived and shut down both northbound lanes on Highway 81 for scene safety. One patient was transported with significant injuries. The roadway remained closed until SCHP completed their investigation.
We are a few days away from our car show this Saturday! Please continue to spread the word. Vehicles of all forms are welcome. Many have asked, and yes, you can bring your motorcycles! We are looking forward to a great turnout.
On the day of the show, signage will be posted directing vendors/participants and parking for spectators. To combat all the fictitious posts regarding the show, we will have in-person registration for vehicles starting one hour prior to the show.
Awards will be announced at 1:30 PM, and each winner will receive their trophy along with a bucket of cleaning supplies donated by local auto parts stores!
We would love to see each and every one of you there to support the Powdersville Volunteer Fire Department. We can’t wait to see you there!
*DUMPSTER FIRE DUE TO FIREWORKS*
This morning at 3:54AM, Station 7 was dispatched to reports of a dumpster fire at a business on Highway 153. E7-1 arrived on scene and confirmed working dumpster fire. A booster line was used to extinguish the fire. The close proximity of the dumpster to the building caused decorative lights to melt from the heat. Fortunately, the dumpster was relatively empty otherwise the fire could have possibly spread to the structure. It was determined that used firework containers had been placed in the dumpster before being wet down. Please be careful of how you dispose of any fireworks used tonight. Stay safe and enjoy your 4th of July celebrations! 🇺🇸🎆🎇🧨🇺🇸
🇺🇸HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!🇺🇸
We hope everyone has a fun and safe Independence Day!
A few tips for staying safe while using fireworks:
- Do not light and hold fireworks that aren’t meant to be held. It’s easier to count to 10 when you have all of your fingers!
- Keep a bucket of water or garden hose close by when using fireworks.
-Never try to relight a “dud” or fireworks that haven’t fully ignited.
-Before disposing of used fireworks, wet down thoroughly.
* MVA INVOLVING 3 VEHICLES *
Last night while crews were finishing up operations at a commercial fire alarm, dispatch advised of a 3 car MVA with possible injuries on Highway 81 at Tripp Road. Multiple units went enroute and arrived on scene to one vehicle off the roadway and two still blocking a lane of travel. The roadway was shut down while crews checked for injuries. All occupants involved declined EMS. Crews were able to move the vehicles out of the roadway and remove debris. The scene was turned over to SCHP.
Remembering the fallen men and women that fought for our country and made the ultimate sacrifice!

* MULTIPLE MVA’s *
It has been a very busy morning for our crews. At 10:56AM, a single vehicle accident with rollover on Three Bridges road was dispatched. The driver was out of the vehicle on arrival and was transported for minor injuries. At 11:07AM, a multi-vehicle accident on I-85 at the 39MM was dispatched. The semi truck involved had a ruptured fuel tank due to the accident. HAZ-MAT was notified and responded. One lane of I-85 is shut down while crews operate. Please use caution if in the area.
We would like to thank TTI-Ryobi for donating multiple tools! Our department received multiple battery operated fans, a charging station with batteries, lawn mower, hedge trimmers, w**d eater, and a pressure washer with a floor and undercarriage cleaning attachment. These donated items will definitely come in handy around the department. Thank you TTI!
* NEW ADDITION TO PVFD RESPONSE FLEET *
PVFD will be taking delivery of our newest addition today! As many of you know, the Powdersville area is growing leaps and bounds. Responding to calls is not always an easy task due to the increasing amount of traffic in the area. Air Ops 7 will give us the ability to bypass traffic and arrive on scene incredibly fast. Some of the benefits will be:
- Much faster response time
- Assist in rope rescues
- Search and Rescue
- Eliminate the need for the loud sirens and air horns while responding
- The “Cool Factor”
If you’re still reading, we hope we got a smile or laugh out of you! APRIL FOOLS!
Happy Easter! We hope everyone has a safe and blessed day today.
Please keep the Clinton Fire Department in your thoughts and prayers today and for the days to come. One of their apparatus was involved in a tragic accident today.
* MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT WITH ROLLOVER *
Station 7 was dispatched this evening to a single vehicle MVA with rollover on River Road near Langston Road. Crews arrived on scene and created a safe working area. The driver declined EMS transport. Scene turned over to SCHP. Please use caution in the area.
* GRASS FIRE *
Crews were dispatched to Caledonia subdivision for reports of a grass fire. A working grass fire was confirmed upon arrival. An ember from a raised fire pit caught the grass on fire and spread to a neighboring yard. E7 arrived and the fire was extinguished quickly. While working this fire, another grass fire was dispatched in the area of Highway 153 and Hood road. E7-1 responded and was able to extinguish the small fire with a water extinguisher.
Although there is not any current burn restrictions, we recommend holding off on burning until winds die down. Please remember that while burning you must stay with the fire and have a water source immediately available.
* CONCRETE TRUCK VS POWER LINE *
Crews are currently on scene in the 1200 block of Three Bridge Road with down/low hanging lines and a broken power pole. Three bridges road is currently shut down. Members are turning cars around and providing options for alternate routes. Please avoid the area.
* STRUCTURE FIRE *
Station 7, Wren Fire Dept 24, Three and Twenty Fire Department Sta.19, and West Pelzer Fire Dept. were dispatched to reports of a structure fire on Riverside Drive yesterday at 5:33PM. Station 7’s Chief (7-01) and Assistant Chief (7-02) were in Squad 7 headed to a meeting when the call was dispatched and was fortunately only a little over 2 miles away. Squad 7 arrived on scene to smoke showing and confirmed working fire. Station 19’s 1st Lieutenant (19-04) was nearby and arrived on scene immediately after SQ7. 7-02 and 19-04 forced entry and were able to save 2 dogs, 1 bird, and confirm that no one else was home. A 2.5 gallon water extinguisher was used to contain the fire to the room of origin. E24-1 arrived on scene and stretched a line and assisted with fire attack. Multiple other crews arrived on scene simultaneously and assisted with fire attack, ventilation, and rehab operations. Due to the quick response and hard work of all members, the structure suffered limited fire and smoke damage. Great teamwork by all!
* HIGH PRESSURE AIR BAG TRAINING *
Last night, members trained on the use of high pressure air bags. High pressure air bags are typically used when a patient is trapped underneath a heavy object such as a vehicle. These air bags come in different sizes and can lift an incredible amount of weight. Our smallest size air bag can lift up to 19.6 tons! Although it is very rare for these to be used, it’s important that we train and are ready if they are needed.
