If you have any questions please email [email protected].
We 🧡 you all 🎃👻
Come join us for worship!
Next week, on October 16th, we will be having Girls Night. Please note: This event starts at 6 pm, not our normal 7 pm.
None of our men’s Griggs groups will be meeting that night.
This will be an opportunity for the ladies of our church to foster greater connections and have some fun. We will have some food and activities. All of our women are invited.
Hey Griggs,
There is no power at the church. Since we have no guarantee or even estimation when the power will be back on, we had to make the call to cancel our services - especially since, when the power is out, the downstairs is too dark to use safely.
So there will be no Sunday morning service or Neighborhood Network tomorrow, September 29th.
We are still the church even if we can’t meet this Sunday. So if you are facing any kind of need due to the hurricane please reach out to me at [email protected] for prayer and support. You can also post your need on our Facebook group - The Poe Mill Prayer Chain.
I know the mill villages and West Side have been really impacted so let’s remember them in our prayers especially.
Jesus will use these circumstances to bring about his divine purposes which always amount to his glory and our good. Let’s follow him - even through the storm.
With love,
Pastor Mitch

TONIGHT! All Griggs guys are welcome to come to Guys Night! Join us for a night of fun, fellowship, and friendly competition.
We will meet in the church at 7 for instructions and team drafting. Bring an appetite and your game face, because it is GAME ON!
Women will have an event on Wednesday October 16. So ladies, take it easy tonight, rest, and come back refreshed for 1 Timothy 4 next week!
REMINDER FOR THIS SUNDAY!
Our Griggs Groups this fall will be focused on three of Paul’s letters. These letters are written specifically to young pastors about how to live godly lives and remain true to the teaching of Jesus.
Tonight, groups will study 1 Timothy chapter 1 so read ahead to be ready for the discussion. To get an overview of the book, try the Bible Project video on 1 Timothy.
Griggs groups run 7-8pm but kids check-in starts at 6:45. Then we gather upstairs for a song, short devotional and dismissal to groups.
Join the livestream for Sarge's Funeral 08/22/2024.
SARGE’S FUNERAL
Sarge Miller, one of our beloved members and deacons has passed away and is in the presence of Jesus.
There was no one quite like Sarge who was faithfully and lovingly involved in everything we do and we will all miss him very much. We are proud of him for his life of following Jesus and finishing his race so well. Jesus will be our comfort during this time and we look forward to the moment we can be reunited with all the saints who have gone before us.
The funeral is at Griggs on Thursday. Visitation starts at 1pm and the service starts at 2pm.
PRAYER
This week we’re praying for all those who are grieving in our church. Amanda Peeler, Cade Suddoth, and Aunt Pam have all lost their fathers this summer. There are others in our church grieving losses as well.
Thank you to all who love and care for the body and weep with those who weep. Let’s continue in prayer for our people!

Tomorrow night, August 21st, Griggs Groups will start back up!
Griggs Groups take place at our building on Wednesday nights from 7–8:00 p.m.
For those with children, we ask that you check in your kids before the service starts - so between 6:45 and 7:00 p.m. which will help us with efficiency as we have more kids coming than ever. We really need your help with this!
At 7:00 we start in the sanctuary with songs and announcements then by 7:15 we break up into groups all over the property. Groups end between 8:00 and 8:15.
Each group has a leader. They facilitate reading a Bible chapter and then discussing it and how it pertains to life. You can say as much or as little as you’d like. No pressure, just a friendly conversation. This semester we’ll be going through 1st and 2nd Timothy and Titus.
We do Griggs Groups to facilitate biblically based conversations that lead to Christian community. If you are not yet part of a group please email us at [email protected] and we will set you up before the 21st.
We are so thankful to our summer staff Carter, Blake, Haley, Bethany and Julia for serving faithfully. They did three full weeks of Camp Griggs, and lots of outings all while still serving on Sundays and Wednesdays.
They got so spend the summer building relationships with the kids and families in the neighborhood and support attending families.
We are thankful for all the conversations you had, bus trips you drove, games you played, babies you bounced, songs you sang and snacks you handed out. We can all learn from your willingness to serve.
Psalm 127
Unless the LORD Builds the House
A Song of Ascents. Of Solomon.
[1] Unless the LORD builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.
[2] It is in vain that you rise up early
and go late to rest,
eating the bread of anxious toil;
for he gives to his beloved sleep.
[3] Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,
the fruit of the womb a reward.
[4] Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
are the children of one’s youth.
[5] Blessed is the man
who fills his quiver with them!
He shall not be put to shame
when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.
We have our last summer midweek service tonight! We won’t have any Wednesday night services for two weeks and then, on August 21st, Griggs Groups will launch again on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

If you would like to learn more about volunteering, are willing to try volunteering, or are available to volunteer - please email [email protected] asap! And come to the volunteer meeting on August 11th at 4 pm (food provided).

You may be cool. But you are not Jaaz riding a reindeer in northern Mongolia preaching the gospel to those who’ve never heard about Jesus cool.
Griggs is doing something new!
What started as a quarterly update for our supporters seemed to be morphing into a community newspaper so we decided to embrace it, print it, and put it out there.
It's called Saltbox Quarterly; A quarterly newspaper that connects you to good news in West Greenville.
You can get a free copy mailed to you each quarter anywhere in the US going to www.griggschurch.com/newspaper and filling out the form.
We’ll share stories about the people, events, and traditions that have shaped our side of town. We’ll explore our history and share the gems we find along the way.
The name of our paper draws inspiration from the saltbox houses that you find throughout the neighborhoods in the Mill Crescent. These historic homes, with their distinctively long, angled roofs, resemble the wooden salt boxes found in early American kitchens.
While we honor our past, we also look to the future. Just as saltbox houses have inspired more modern architectural designs, we hope our newspaper will inspire fresh ideas and foster a sense of innovation within West Greenville. We’ll tell you all we can about the current residents and organizations who are making good things happen.
We see a bright future and a new era on the horizon, from Sans Souci to Welcome. Stepping into that future involves recognizing those who are hidden, celebrating and collaborating with our wonderful non-profits and ministries, and equipping our neighbors to meet the immediate needs around them.
One hope we have is that we can, at times, unify the city and the county, the east side, and the west side. Both have strengths and perspectives to bring to the table that, when realized, will make the Upstate an even better place to live.
Happy 4th, Poe Mill 🎇
No camp Griggs or Wednesday night service this week! We hope you have a great 4th of July!
At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.
Matthew 18:1-5
Hey Griggs Family,
We just wanted to let you know about a recovery graduation coming up for two of our members, Evan Lister and Thomas Carrol.
They have put in so much hard work and by God’s grace they’ll be graduating from Homes of Hope next week.
They have attended and served faithfully at Griggs throughout their year in the Men’s Workforce Development Program and we want to show them our support and thanks. So would love to see those who are able to attend at Thomas and Evan’s graduation! If you have never been to a recovery graduation, it’s a front row seat to a powerful celebration of Jesus’ power and work.
The Graduation Ceremony is next Tuesday, June 25th at 6:00 PM at the Homes of Hope Men's Workforce Development Center which is located at 1815 Anderson Road, Greenville SC 29611. A leader from our church will be providing the food!
Please RSVP here https://forms.office.com/r/VZkz9B0JLW. Let's show Evan and Thomas that we love and support them.
Mitch
Pastor Mitch will be preaching through the book of Nahum at our midweek service tonight.
Children’s and nursery check-in begins at 6:45 PM downstairs. At 7 PM, we’ll gather in the sanctuary to sing and, after a few brief announcements, we’ll delve into this week’s book.
At 7:45 PM, parents can pick up their kids, and then everyone is invited to Mr. Rogers’ house for family dinner.
Enjoy the meal, chat with friends, and relax inside or out for as long as you like.
