For specific studio projects, I'm looking for scrap wood: I need an abundance of 1 x 2, and 1 x 4 inches, any length.
Also, need scraps of ply, from luan to various thickness and sizes of other plywood.
NOTE -- Scraps may be new full or partial boards of any length, ply sheets of any size.
Old, rougher pieces with scratches, nicks, scarred surfaces, and screw and nail holes are ok.
No particle or MDF board. No treated woods. No rotted woods.

The economic development boom has been growing all around my studio here in Greenville. Holland Park is at the end of my street and across Laurens Road. Home Team BBQ is throwing "Party In The Park" on Saturday, Sept. 9. Described as a day of family fun, Home Team and Greek Town restaurants will be "slinging BBQ and Greek food" as they celebrate the opening of the Swamp Rabbit Trail connection. I'm sure you've seen the new pedestrian bridge by now. This area has changed so much, it truly is a boom town, and as Greg Brown sings, it'll "Boom as long as the boom has room." It’s going to be fire.

Dry run. Estimating the size and length of small sculptural pieces l’m making from a batch of found wood and objects. I’ve had finds stored in bins for the last five years and longer. I scavenge AND save my own table saw scraps, a practice that never ends. Don’t want to cut wood until the piece is in progress, a kind of “measure twice cut once” approach.

Bits and pieces on the drawing board. I pitched a good many pieces of collage scraps I’d been saving, I just didn’t trust the lightfast quality of the printed papers. I want to do collage that doesn’t get framed under glass, preferring instead to mount on panels and seal with acrylic gel and Golden UV resistant varnish.

I prefer drawing with charcoal but it sure is messy compared to graphite, and the smudging is fantastic with charcoal. Lately, though, I’m using graphite 6B and 5B pencils with sketchbooks, 9 x 12 inches.
Driving through Powdersville over the weekend and seeing the roadside fields bare and tinged with the beige of broomsedge, and gray skies overhead. Maybe this was a tree farm, there were rows of small trees and indication of weathered tractor pathways, I don't recall this field as a tree farm in summer, though. Sketchbook drawings of locations around the area are done on-location or with phone camera pics taken for studio reference. Or by memory.

Today’s date: December 26, 2021. With the temp just over 70 degrees and blue skies, it was like springtime. Fall and winter so far has been mild. In the garden, nasturtiums continue to bloom. Meanwhile, inside, there's a wood stove in the studio that's not been used.
REMINDER -- Art + Ceramics are ideal for your gift list. Shop THIS Saturday, Dec 4, 11-4pm. It's going to be a beautiful day. Do come see us.
