Our Story
Welcome to the Dr. Jesse R. Peel LGBTQ Center at East Carolina University. Since 2011, we have served the entire ECU community. Originally founded in 2011 as the LGBT Resource Office, we are now the Peel LGBTQ Center and are located in the new Main Campus Student Center in Room 209. We are open Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Our resources include a lending library of more than 700 titles; information on campus, local, and national resources; and four computer workstations, in addition to a social area and offices for our staff. Throughout the year, we offer educational programs and events, and participate in national campaigns such as National Coming Out Day, Transgender Day of Remembrance, “Gay? Fine by Me,” Asexual Awareness Week, Bisexual Awareness Week, World AIDS Day, and Transgender Day of Visibility. We invite you to visit the Peel LGBTQ Center—everyone is always welcome!
