Creating a positive classroom environment starts with clear expectations and consistent consequences for behavior. Encouraging positive behavior and acknowledging student achievements can go a long way in promoting a respectful and productive learning space

I am not just the administrator of an elementary Behavior Focus program, I also teach part-time in a Behavior Program for students who cannot exist in a general education classroom because their behaviors are too disruptive. I also am raising a child with behavioral issues. One tool I have used and seen used successful is a PBIS behavior matrix - used daily (and not just tickets for prizes!) By teaching the expectations and holding children accountable to the expectations, success can and will happen!
