It's National Bike & Roll to School Day! This celebration encourages children to safely walk, bike or roll to school. Share these important safety tips with your kids or someone you know with children!
🚴♀️ BE VISIBLE TO OTHERS. Wear neon, fluorescent or other bright colors when walking or riding a bike. Add reflective tape to your clothes and flashing lights to your bike.
🚴♀️ KNOW WHERE TO BIKE AND WALK. When biking, ride the same direction as other vehicles (on the right side of the road). For pedestrians try to use the sidewalk and if there is none walk on the left side of the road facing traffic.
🚴♀️ BE CAUTIOUS CROSSING THE ROAD. Cross the street at corners or at crosswalks. Stop, look both ways, and listen for vehicles before crossing the street.
TRAFFIC ALERT
There will be daytime road closures at the intersection of Tomac Avenue, Harding Road, and Forest Avenue on Thursday, May 2, Friday, May 3, and Monday, May 6 for road subbase reconstruction. The road will be closed during construction hours, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with police presence to redirect traffic. The road will reopen at the end of each construction day.

📢 WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT VAN-ACCESSIBLE PARKING SPACES 📢
👨🦽 A van-accessible parking space has an access aisle (the striped area adjacent to the accessible parking space), which allows people who use wheelchairs, mobility devices, or scooters the room to transfer in and out of their vehicles.
👨🦼 The access aisle next to the parking space is NOT a parking area. It is illegal to park in any access aisle. You can receive a ticket and/or violation for doing so. This designated area provides the necessary room for someone in a wheelchair, mobility device, or scooter to extend a ramp or lift out the side of the van and still have room to maneuver. When this area is blocked, the person is unable to enter or leave their vehicle.
