Last week, Dr. Barbare’s Driver’s Education students were given the opportunity to learn about car insurance from local State Farm Agent, Tom Roylston. Mr. Roylston was able to explain to her students what insurance is, what different coverages cover, what can affect insurance rates, and was able to answer any questions that students had about car insurance! We are thankful for Mr. Roylston taking the time to invest in our students and for his commitment to our students shared safe driving success!

GREER HIGH RECEIVES 2024 ALLIANCE FOR A HEALTHIER GENERATION AWARD
The Alliance for a Healthier Generation awarded the Greer High School PE Department with the 2024 America’s Healthiest Schools Award for making our school a healthy school. During the 2023-24 school year, Dr. Barbare, Dr. Scruggs, Coach Landreth, and Coach Burgin completed the Alliance for a Healthier Generation Healthy Schools Program evidence-based online assessment, developed an action plan, set goals, and worked diligently with their students throughout the year to meet those goals. We are beyond proud of the hard work of our students and are excited to celebrate this amazing achievement. Greer High School is one of 879 schools across the country recognized as one of America's Healthiest Schools for their dedication to supporting the health and well-being of students, staff, and families. For over 16 years, Healthier Generation’s prestigious, national recognition program has honored schools that have demonstrated remarkable efforts to prioritize the essential health needs of students and staff. The PE Department is thankful to have such a great support system of administrators, school counselors, teachers, cafeteria staff, and custodians at Greer High who encourage our students to adopt healthy lifestyles and always strive for excellence! We want to give a special shoutout to Mr. Phillips for being an amazing department administrator and thank him for his unwavering support. Additionally, we want to recognize and thank Mrs. Yount for contributing to the research, data, and artifacts in the "cultivating staff well-being" section of the evidence-based assessment.

Make plans to join us for the 9th annual Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering Night event at Fluor Field on Tuesday June 25th. AM&E Night is the most unique and impactful event hosted at Fluor Field each season as we showcase the amazing manufacturing and engineering activity taking place in our region. Further, each year, AM&E Night welcomes, on a complimentary basis, thousands of K-12 students to the ballpark as we utilize this event to “ignite the passion” for AM&E with young people and their families to ensure the region’s largest and most innovative employers have the workforce they need for future growth and success.
As per usual, and to ensure access for all, all K-12 students can attend AM&E Night via fully complimentary tickets!
Thanks to the hard work of our strategic planning team, AM&E Night is packed with engaging and relevant entertainment. The below provides a snapshot of this year’s event highlights:
1. Stadium Gates Open & Interactive Concourse Exhibits Begin (beginning at 6pm)
The concourse at Fluor Field will be fully transformed with incredible AM&E technology and interactive exhibits. 25+ concourse exhibitors will be on full display showcasing innovative and exciting technologies including machine learning and technology, automation, mechatronics, 3D printing & scanning, computer manufacturing, engineering design, and more
Exhibitors confirmed to participate include BMW, Michelin, Greenville Technical College, GE Vernova, Greenville County Schools, Milliken, Bosch, Bosch Rexroth, Duke Energy, Dodge Industrial, and more. In addition, new exhibitors for 2024 include Arthrex, Ryobi, and Wauseon Machine. The Boston Red Sox will also return for the second straight year with a concourse display showcasing how analytics & technology are transforming the player development process across baseball.
The concourse will also provide students and parents with a variety of academic resources and information for how students can best pursue specific fields across the AM&E landscape. Students will have the opportunity to join the “Young Innovators Club” – an incentive for students to visit all the exhibits on the stadium concourse and by doing so having a chance to win great prizes and experiences.
2. Leadership & Educator Panel Discussion on District 356 (begins at 615pm in the 500 Club)
Attendees will also have a chance to hear from academic and industry leaders via a panel discussion in the all-new 500 Club inside Fluor Field. The panel will include senior leadership from prominent Upstate AM&E-related companies & organizations talking directly to parents & students about the best way for today’s students to pursue careers in manufacturing & technology. This year’s panelists include:
Shane Long: VP Global Supply Chain, GE Vernova
Kelvin Byrd: Dean, School of Advanced Manufacturing & Transportation Technology, Greenville Technical College
Jason Loftis: Progress Platform Leader, Greenville, Passenger Tire Plant, Michelin North America
Ericka Suber: HR Manager of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, BMW
The panel will be expertly moderated by Alex Estevez, Venture Partner with Accel Partners. New employees, apprentices and interns will also be available to answer all questions from students and families.
We can’t wait to see all students and families at Fluor Field on June 25th for AM&E Night – the most exciting, energetic, and unique event every year at the ballpark.
