What an amazing end to our season. Yesterday, we were able to play a scrimmage game against Barlow JBO on the Salem-Keizer Volcano Stadium and then set up tents to camp overnight on the field. Today the boys were able to do batting practice before we had to leave. It was a perfect end to a completely crazy season with good, bad, happy and hard moments. We want to thank our coaches for all of the effort and time they put into this team. We want to thank the families who have been supportive. We want to thank all our sponsors for helping us to achieve the goal to play. We especially want to thank our players for all their hard work this season! This weekend GB Elite 10U is playing in the WCP Father’s Day Tournament. Yesterday we played two games.

Game 1, we lost 16-1 to NWDS. Tayvian Nelson was our starting pitcher, followed by Dom Linebarger. They both worked hard, but the other team had very strong hitters. Our field came out strong with some good defense plays in the first inning. Kaleb Adams has a beautiful tag out on a double steal attempt. Alex Nuncio had an RBI double. In the end their bats were too much for us.

Game 2, we lost 15-10 to LYB Portland Bombers. Alex Nuncio was our starting pitcher, struck out 6 in 3.1 innings, followed by Gavin Jusino and Caden Hunt. We had multiple hits in this game by, Lucas Rounds and Gavin Messer. Plus who scored multiple runs were Lucas, Gavin Messer and Jordan Swartz. Two players had multiple RBI’s, Tayvian Nelson and Caden Hunt. We fell behind early, but battled back, only to fall a little short.

Today we play at 12:30 against West Linn Gold. And then at 5:00 against Moundtime 9U.

Game 4 was against West Linn Gold at 5:00pm today. Our boys won the game 14-2! Behind some good hitting by multiple players, Tayvian Nelson had 5 RBI’s, Gavin Messer had 3 RBI’s and Lucas Rounds had 2 RBI’s with the highlight of the game being an over the fence homerun. Our pitching was strong, by Lucas, going 3 innings with no earned runs. We are super proud of the whole team! We work together, we play together, we win together!

Game 3 was today at 1:00pm in the Border Wars tournament. GB Elite 10U took hard loss against an amazing pitcher on NWDS! Final score was 12-0. Our pitcher, Kaleb Adams, was working hard. Going into the 4th inning it was 6-0, but a lot of errors caused our unraveling. We took the loss and prepared for our next game at 5:00pm.

Game 2 didn’t go as well as we had hoped, we lost 16-4 to West Valley BBC. We play tomorrow at 1:00pm against NWDS! We need a good nights rest so we are ready to bring our A game!

GB Elite 10u is representing Gresham Barlow today in the Border Wars 10u AAA division. They just won their first game 12-11 against WV Seeds Blue! Great job to all of our boys- we work together, we play together, we win together! Keep up the good work! Next game is at 4:00pm.

We played for 5th or 6th today, and it was not our day. We took 6th out of 6 teams. We had a lot of errors giving us a lot of opportunity to practice hard to improve on those errors before our next tournament. Second game in our first tournament and they fought hard against a good team who could hit! Up until the last inning we were tied 7-7. We had good pitching, some good plays and some good hits! The improvement from game 1 to game 2 alone was amazing! We keep pushing, learning and growing. Good job boys!

We want you to get to know our team! All sports need coaches that love the sport and have the willingness and drive to teach so the players passion grows for that sport.

This is our Head Coach Chris. Coach Chris has been the head coach since we started in coach pitch rec. ball years ago. Every team and every player has grown under his coaching. He loves and knows the game of baseball to his core. He cares about each player and works hard to make sure each player gets better each and every time they take the field, whether in a game or in practice. He also cares that the boys play the game the right way, with good mechanics, good attitudes and good sportsmanship. We are blessed to have Coach Chris managing our team.

Why do you like to coach?
I love seeing kids develop a skill and enjoy a sport to where they want to continue playing year after year. I feel if all of our players develop and improve and have the desire to continue playing baseball then we as coaches have succeeded. Coaching is not just about sports though. I enjoy coaching because of how we are preparing these kids to become young adults soon and I feel that sports teaches about life. You have to learn to win just as you have to learn to lose. You have to learn to push yourself to achieve something you previously thought was not possible and in doing so you will have more confidence in yourself. You learn discipline and respect for others. You learn teamwork and getting along with others, even if you aren't best friends...just like in the real world of employment. Coaching is much more than X's and O's. It's helping to shape these boys into young men and prepare them for the future. And having some fun along the way.

This is Kayne! Kayne has been playing with us for a few years now starting with rec ball. Kayne has worked hard over the years to develop as a player and especially with his hitting. He is a power hitter who loves to drive the ball. He’s also a good defensive player and has worked hard to develop as a catcher in particular. It’s been fun to watch him grow and to watch him have fun playing. He has a smile that lights up the field.
