This week, we celebrated Deyi’s 8-year work anniversary at Adara Oaks. For the past eight years, Deyi has been serving up delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner for our residents as one of our chefs in the Dietary Services department. We are grateful for her hard work creating fresh and healthy meals and appreciate her commitment to our community.
Witching you a Happy Halloween! 🧹
It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Adara Oaks residents enjoyed a walk to Stomping Grounds, the local coffee shop. ☕️
This week, we celebrated Araceli’s 7-year work anniversary. 💫💫💫
Araceli is the heart of our community. While her job title is receptionist, she inhabits every role of resident support and leadership on a regular basis and always with kindness and willingness. Everything that takes place at Adara Oaks passes through Araceli’s hands. On any given day, you will find Araceli welcoming guests into our community with a smiling face or scheduling resident appointments or following up with medical referrals or making or taking phone calls. Araceli is trusted by the residents and quick to respond to their concerns. On top of all this, Araceli often covers open caregiving shifts and provides extra assistance and support to our caregiving staff. Congratulations, Araceli! You are one in a million!
Adara Oaks residents enjoyed a visit from some four-legged friends this past weekend. These trained service dogs were so friendly and spread smiles throughout our community.
This week, Adara Oaks residents visited the Gresham Senior Center to participate in a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. Everyone enjoyed good food and music, and Linda was thrilled when the mariachi band played her song request.
Another scent-sational activity by our Life Engagement team at Adara Oaks. Residents made essential oil blends during a seasonal aromatherapy/sensory activity. They learned about different types of scents, how they are used, and how to put together perfumes and colognes with intention. Residents followed recipes for a masculine scent and a feminine scent, which they then customized for themselves or to gift to their loved ones. The activity was followed by an additional meditation and blessing ceremony outside with seasonal incense.
Today, October 10th, is World Mental Health Day. It’s a day to bring attention to the importance of mental health and a reminder that mental health matters.
Full disclosure: this is just a chicken appreciation account now. 🥚 🐓
Adara Oaks residents are sure appreciating their new feathered friends.
It’s time for a chicken check in. Our little friends now have wing feathers.
Some Adara Oaks artists created beautiful terrariums. In addition to using artificial plants, residents also incorporated actual fall leaves found on a walk. They then “laminated” these leaves with packing tape to preserve their vibrant colors.
It’s a girl x3! 🐥🐥🐥 Adara Oaks welcomed some new additions to the community, and residents and staff are now officially new chick parents! The Rhode Island Red triplets will be named tomorrow at this week’s Resident Counsel meeting.
International Talk Like a Pirate Day was truly a swashbuckling adventure. Downton Abby met the Goonies when high tea was abruptly interrupted by a crew of buccaneers. Fishing on the high seas, a manor treasure hunt, and wanted posters rounded out the memorable day. 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
This week’s Garden Club activity had residents making fall leaf prints using leaves from our community’s garden. 🍃🍂🍁
Arr, Matey! Here at Adara Oaks it seems HIGH TEA was interrupted by PIRATES! HIGH TEA VS THE HIGH SEA? Clutch your pearls! Ready your fleet! This may result in a naval battle!
(Happy International Talk Like a Pirate Day!) 🏴☠️
The Adara Oaks dining room was full for last week’s pizza 🍕party and “Clue” 🔎 🎥 movie showing.

When your LED is also a professional sign artist, residents get the benefit of a Sign Painting 101 class! Bailey taught everyone a lot of tips and tricks she learned from being a sign artist for Trader Joe’s. She showed residents how to layer chalkboard paint and paint pens to make the boldest lettering designs. Thank you, Bailey, for sharing your expertise and artistry.
No need to move to the country to eat a lot of peaches. 🍑 Residents got their fill during a recent peach tasting activity as part of our Therapeutic Horticulture program. 🍑 They tried various varieties of peaches, from farmers’ markets and grocery stores, and rated them for taste and sweetness.

It was a full house (pun intended) for a recent Yahtzee and Uno tournament at Adara Oaks. Residents were rocking and rolling (literally) as they listened to music, threw the dice, and played their cards strategically!
National Senior Citizen Day was August 21st. To celebrate, Adara Oaks residents played “The Price is Right” with prices all from 1959, enjoyed floats made with Sprecher Cream Soda, and watched the movie, “Grease.” Miss Shirley even dressed the part of a Pink Lady for the movie screening!
