At each and every City Council meeting, the City of Grovetown names the prior month’s Employee of the Month selection. At July’s City Council meeting, June 2024’s Employee of the Month was announced, with none other than Investigator William Rodman being selected! Inv. Rodman is an integral part of our Criminal Investigations Division, and today, we’re shining our Employee Spotlight on him. Get ready!

William Rodman was born in Augusta and raised in the Martinez area. A lifelong resident of Columbia County, he enjoyed playing baseball, golf, and other sports in his youth. William also played both lacrosse and football in high school and graduated from Lakeside High School in 2011.

Upon graduating, he immediately entered the workforce and performed a variety of jobs. Two years later, he would meet his wife, who encouraged him to go back to school and earn a college degree. Thus, Rodman attended both Augusta Technical College and Georgia Military College, where he would graduate in 2017. Rodman walked away with a double major in both Criminal Justice and Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

He would immediately put those majors to good use, entering law enforcement in 2018. He started basic police mandate and graduated in June of that year. After applying to different agencies, Rodman began work with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. Spending a little over a year in Augusta, Rodman decided to apply for a position with the Grovetown Police Department. Rodman joined the City in 2019, and spent approximately two years on road patrol. A jump to investigative work within the department would soon follow.

When asked what his favorite aspect of investigative work is, Rodman replied, “How nothing is ever exactly the same, and trying to figure out the ‘puzzle.’” With focus on s*x crimes, often involving children, it’s particularly rewarding for him to be able to provide a sense of safety for a child or a victim of a s*xual crime. We’re happy to report Inv. Rodman has been involved in several cases where has been able to do just that.

In his spare time, Inv. Rodman enjoys spending time with his family, namely his 3-year-old son. He enjoys going shooting, playing golf, watching NASCAR, and all things UGA, particularly their football team (Go Dawgs!). He also enjoys music of all kinds, with a range of tastes and favorites.

We appreciate Inv. Rodman for his hard work and dedication to the City of Grovetown. His line of work is certainly not easy, and we are grateful to have him out there looking out for our community. Congratulations, Inv. Rodman! It’s well deserved!
