We have been receiving inquiries as to whether we have Halloween products in the market, and if anything is new. The answer is yes to both!

Several of our dealers have begun to offer their Halloween and Autumn decor displays. We also have several new dealers and several more moving in this month! Our other dealers continue to regularly restock and improve their offerings frequently!

Yesterday we were visited by a local celebrity! Hagerstown Flying Boxcars own Captain Stryker stopped by, and we could tell he recognizes quality antiques when he sees them!

Come to Beaver Creek Antique Market to see an astounding piece of history in person!

Currently on display in our lobby is the massive 'Witness Cupboard' which proudly stood in the home of the Stephen P. Grove farm, known as "Mt. Airy," at the Antietam Battlefield. This corner cupboard is one of the only pieces of furniture which survived the home's use as a hospital for both union and confederate troops during the several months following the Union victory there in 1862.

The piece was present in the house when it was toured by President Abraham Lincoln the day that now-famous photographs were taken of his visit with encamped troops just outside. Young Louisa Grove was only 7 years old as the kindly President entered and placed his great hand on her head while he expressed his regret to the family for the damage done to their farm, before walking down the hall examining the troops stretched out on both sides and in 9 of the 12 rooms in the home.

Due to the conditions of the hospital, the family opted to destroy and burn most furniture in the house once the Union doctors left over three months later, but this cabinet was spared such a fate and moved with members of the family into Pennsylvania before recently returning to our area.

In addition to the witness cupboard, our lobby offers a small exhibit of unique and important items from Hagerstown businesses and industries spanning over a century, including relics from restaurants, Crawford automobile and bicycle manufacturing, Moller Pipe Organ manufacturing, the Hagerstown Fair, a projector from the Maryland Theater and much more.

While our market is filled with an award winning selection of antiques for sale, These items on display in our lobby are not for sale.
