Just a few of the 100s of intersections in our lives:

This is Luca. He’s my wingman all day, every day of the work week. I’m always hesitant to post about him publicly. (I want people to see me for the work I specialize in, not just because I have an incredible dog. Ya know?) He’s a bonus.

Luca is a one-and-a-half-year-old Bernedoodle. He’s 100 lbs of love and intelligence and has mastered the puppy dog eyes. He helps my clients (age 5 to 60+) open up in ways I find are absolute magic.

He has been in the office since he was 8 lbs and has grown so much (literally and figuratively). I consider myself one of the luckiest counselors to work side by side with this big guy.

So here’s to you, Luca. Great work, bud. 💛

2021 is the year for healing and transformation.

And I am so inspired by the therapists who have joined this mission at Aurora Counseling & Well-Being. Together, we have become THE trauma-informed private practice in The Shenandoah Valley. Our specialities encompass all ages and range from complex trauma, to expressive and somatic approaches, healing toxic relationships, and nurturing post-traumatic growth.

I am thrilled to introduce Austin Mikolin to our team. Austin is a licensed professional counselor and trauma specialist with an expertise in teen issues and emerging adulthood. She uses expressive arts and other creative modalities to complement her talk therapy. She currently has openings for new clients for virtual telehealth sessions.

Bry Duncan has her Masters in Counseling and continues expanding her practice. She is becoming trained in trauma-informed approaches, including DBT. She specializes in early childhood trauma and family conflict, incorporating play and art when working with children. She currently only has a couple openings left for new appointments, and is seeing clients both in-person and virtually.

Dr. Laura Copley is a licensed professional counselor and certified trauma specialist. She is a trauma researcher, educator, and supervisor. Her specialty is nurturing post-traumatic growth in her individual clients and working on healing the toxic dance within a trauma bond. She currently is not accepting new clients, but has a waiting list for those who want to work with her in the future.
