A question we get a lot is: What is mead? Never fear mandie here to tell you!
MEAD: is an alcoholic beverage made by fermenting honey, water and sometimes other ingredients like fruits and grains. It is typically a dry wine ( differs per flavor) ranging anywhere from 3.5% to 18+% alcohol content.
Mead in history: one day some early china foragers drank from a rainwater flooded beehive in 7000 BCE. It is believed that with the help of airborne yeast it fermented naturally. Upon discovery everyone else caught wind. With the ingredients widely available on most farms, mead was consumed by upper and lower classes of myans, Egyptians, Romans and Vikings.
Mead, also called nectar of the gods. Thought to be the dew sent by God's and carried by bees it was believed to hold magikal powers for wit and strength. At one point a spiced mead would and could be used for medical uses. It was said to cure depression, and hypochondria. It was referred to as metheglin. Which is the Welsh word for medicine.
Mead also one of the first aphrodisiacs was used after full moon weddings. It was believed to carry a fantastic marriage and an abundance in children. With the daddios being all yeees give me grandson's would supply a good amount of mead to insure them of the fortune.
In today's America there are more than 250 meaderies including yours truly. The nectar of the gods is still enjoyed today. As the demand becomes more and more widely we plan on keeping ours to perfection.
Till next time

As a woman owned business, we were sad to hear of the overturning of Roe V. Wade.
We are scared for ourselves, our daughters, our sisters, our cousins, our friends, our grandchildren and our mothers.
These emotions are huge and it’s okay to feel them.
Alicia will be holding a meet tonight at 5pm up at the meadery to discuss what we as a community of women can do to help hold each other up during this time, a time where silence has fallen and our futures are uncertain. A time when we are terrified.
Every voice will be heard, every tear is shared and we are shaken.
We are a safe space for women, LGBTQIA, People of color and Allies 🖤
In these trying times, stand tall and know that we are with you.
We have finalized the details so you don’t have any hidden surprises.
Wine &paint will be a couple hours long, after which the meadery will open up for its normal hours. Spots must be paid for in advance
Please rsvp by sending any email to [email protected]
Keep an eye on upcoming events with the signage in front of the meadery itself.
Our little helpers are all wore out and currently a lovely shade of midnight black to match our floors
Yes, that’s right. We finished the floors 😱
We are still in the process of getting our finish details in order but with a little Picasso as cute as Ms. Winifred here, it’s hard to get it done in one go 😅
Doors are still set to open In October and we can’t wait for you to see How all the hard work.. and tears have paid off
*Meet the Employees*
Today we had amazing time behind the scenes, with the kids and two of our three employees!
Meet Sapphire and Lycan, they are faces that you will see a lot up at the meadery. From checking IDs to working security, they are one of the best power couples we have ever had the pleasure of knowing. They have been working with us every step of the way and they know they’re stuff.
So stop in opening day, mingle and say hi.
But most of all, Stay for awhile and have drink with us.

I know we have a big lot behind the meadery, and we don’t mind letting you, let your dog do it’s thing but let’s be respectful of property that is not ours.
Alicia was at the meadery Today meeting with the health department and couldn’t even step two feet between piles of dog p**p in the back lot.
We want to be as easy going as we can, but be responsible and pick up after your pets.
If this keeps on we’ll be forced to fence the lot in and that’s no fun for any of us.
We’re working on some finish touches and we’re getting set to open to the public!
Kitchen won’t be set to open until Dec 2024
But we hit the point of having our doors open right at our deadline!
Our October grand opening is set to move forward
We’re putting the finishing touches before we lay the trim in the meadery…
The problem is Alicia has managed to match the walls and the floor when she was going for a bit of contrast 😂
Looks like there’s room for the Ægishjálmur to be painted on the floor to pull away from all that blue
Also, our acting manager Darrell has taken up residence behind the bar and starting next week Alicia will be hanging event flyers in the window by the door so you can stay up to date on what’s in the works
Mark your calendars
You can start rsvp-ing for October tastings today! We are scheduling for the day after our grand opening
Please contact us with your contact information and which day and time you would like to schedule
Our weddings post caused a lot of stir, so we went ahead and got our pricing together for you. We will only be holding ceremonies Thursday through Sunday and there will be no outside alcohol allowed on the property (regulations and laws and such)
There are no hidden fees outside of state taxes and you can choose to bring your own minister.
The cost does include decorating, because We do love a good, stress free wedding.
We require a 25% deposit that covers the cost of your cake, because we do love visiting bakeries. You will need to supply all reception foods, outside of cake and mead
The meadery has a max capacity of 150 persons. So we can not host inside venues with more than that.
We will make public more information about parties as we figure it out.
