Wagon Ho Farm
We raise KHSI registered Katahdin sheep, ADCA Dexter cows, and AKC Great Pyrenees dogs together on our rolling 54 acre farm near beautiful Lake Hartwell.
We practice regenerative grazing and do genetic and disease testing on our livestock.
We sorted lambs today. It makes me laugh to see how tightly they pack in together.
I love how my sheep guardians lie with the flock and are trusted by the lambs. This girl is 8 months old and doing great.
Snowing on the farm in June!!!!!
The new ewe lamb is so beautiful. We tagged and weighed her yesterday. She was 11 pounds.
We had a surprise this evening. I thought she had not bred. We have another beautiful ewe lamb.
We worked sheep today. One of the mature ewes left part of her coat in James' hands. The lambs will be going to new homes in a few weeks. I have a bunch of big gorgeous ram lambs. Contact me if you want a new ram for your flock! Disease tested, codon 171 tested, grass genetics.

I am so proud of this little lady! We have named her Matilda but call her Matty. She is a rock star in the sheep guardian department. We have a couple of her siblings available. They are super sweet and smart. They can go so many directions
This is interesting...I guess they are a bonded working pair now. They are sharing a meal with no growling from the lead dog .
This is my ewe that was injured in January and her ewe lamb and ram lamb. So thankful she is well and they are gorgeous!
What a busy afternoon! We gathered up the flock for lamb CDT shots, pictures, and weighing. We also drew blood from some of the ewes for bio-security panels. Twenty-one lambs and 16 sheep will wear you out! James wrangled, Andreas scribed, and I gave shots, read the scale and drew blood. It feels good to have that done.
Woohoo! Another horn fell off. Three to go!
Someone messaged me this morning. It was lost in the fog. Plz try again....
Duncan is so good at blending into the flock!
Labs are growing well and so good looking!
Lambs are getting huge! They are all loving the spring grass!
Unicorn #2....woohoo! Four horns to go! Her horn is hanging on because the gorilla tape I wrapped around her horns to protect the bands on her horns is amazingly strong. Two months of sun, rain, and rubbing on trees and it is still sticking!
The lambs are looking fantastic. Eating, playing and growing well.
About 6 or so weeks ago we banded some of our cows horns. This morning, I found a unicorn in the pasture. Woohoo! One down and 5 to go!
He is serious about his bottle!
The lambs have started to form a mob and play. They are so cute!
We have a bottle lamb available. He was born 3-4-24 as one of a triplet. He needed a little extra TLC so we brought him in and got him firmly on the bottle. He is a sweet guy and loves following us around. He is Codon171 RR and comes from a disease tested flock. He comes with the option of registration with the KHSI . His Dam comes from Round House Farm and is a Grandson of SHU 4284 (Merlin) and RHS 164 ( Mr. Johnson). Contact us if interested.
We love our LGD (livestock guardian dog) Duncan. He is so calm and humble with the flock. While the sheep were out grazing, he laid down in the shade of the run-in shed to watch. It wasn't long before he had company. The sheep gathered round and settled in with him. So thankful for him and all the other guardians that work on our farm
I think we finished lambing today. Only one ewe didn't breed. We have a great looking crop this year. We finished with a 10 pound ewe lamb and slightly larger ram lamb. No wonder the mama resembled a barn!
We are almost finished lambing for the year. Only 2 ewes to go. What an adventure it has been! In the middle of all of the lambing excitement, the herd bull, Bowynn, got the mineral feeder pull rope tied around his ankle. We were so thankful he is a calm, sweet boy as James scratched his back to distract him, Andreas cut the knot to release him, and I looked on and prayed no-one [ including Bowynn] got hurt. It went well and no-one was injured. Bowynn lumbered off swinging his massive head after he was cut loose and is no worse for the experience. I removed the rope and will never use a rope again to pull a mineral feeder around the pasture....who would have thought he would do that!
We have certainly been busy for the last 1 1/2 weeks. On a few occasions I've felt like it is raining lambs! We have a bunch of gorgeous lambs hopping around the pasture. It's fun to listen to the moms calling their babies and the babies shouting when they lose mom while they are taking a quick nap in the grass. Moving day is a challenge because the lambs have no idea what is going on and the moms don't want to walk off and leave them so I slowly follow behind them and push them toward the next paddock. Sometime I have to scoop up slow moving lambs as I go. They will figure it out quickly and start moving with the flock with no problem. I love spring!
Two more! There were three, but one died just pror to or during birth.
We found two more big, healthy, lambs this morning. One ewe lamb and one ram lamb.
Lambing started with a bang today! This big guy made his appearance. The guardian and the guardians-in-training did wonderful.
I had a great time learning with a friend how to flesh out a sheep hide today. It is now salted and rested. I think it will be beautiful when completed!
