Baptist Medical and Dental Mission International
BMDMI exists to evangelize the lost, disciple the saved, and minister to the needs of the poor.
Since 1974, Honduras has been our mission field, bringing people into relationship with Jesus Christ. With God's provision and guidance, we have taken our medical, dental, and evangelistic missionary teams to developing nations in South Asia and Central America.
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes." Romans 1:16
"Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!" Isaiah 30:18
Does your church have a passion for investing in the lives of the next generation? Message us to find out more about leading a youth conference for the teenagers from BMDMI churches in Honduras and Nicaragua. Your mission team can help us lead breakout sessions, teaching, worship, small groups and recreation games. It's sure to be a fun-filled week with an eternal impact!
"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." Colossians 3:12
We are often reminded that while we can be obedient to scatter the seed of the Gospel, we aren't in control of the soil where it lands. When evangelism-focused teams come down, we get to cover a lot more ground in a short amount of time. It's always encouraging to us when we hear the stories of professions of faith. Here is a recent ministry story shared by BMDMI missionaries Jonathan and Savannah McNair.
"As one of our team members was going house-to-house sharing the good news, he passed by a home that was up a steep hill. "The people up there aren't receptive," he was told. However, unbeknownst to anyone, God was moving in the hearts of that couple. Within a moment, the woman came hurrying down the path, asking our team to come and share with her and her husband about the good news of Jesus Christ. As the team faithfully shared, they learned that the man of the home had sent her, and both of them made professions of faith that day.
We are so grateful for the teams that come traverse hard ground to spread the good news of salvation to the ends of the Earth. Praise the Lord for the work that He is bringing to pass in this place!"
Happy Father's Day! 💙 Psalm 103:13: "As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him."
19 years ago, María Adelia received a Bible from the BMDMI team that visited her village. As one of the only books she owns, she has enjoyed reading God's Word from cover to cover many times. BMDMI President recently took a team back to San Blas for the first time since María Adelia received her Bible. When the team heard her story and saw how tattered her Bible had become, they were delighted to present her with a new one. Please pray for María Adelia and the people of San Blas that God would continue to move in a mighty way.
"For the word of God is alive and active" Hebrews 4:12
At BMDMI's hospital in Guaimaca, Honduras, team members pray for the patients and share the gospel with them. We try to share with all the patients as a large group on the first day when the patients are being evaluated, then share again individually with each family member and patient throughout the week as they await surgery.
BMDMI missionary Brandon Fisher recently encountered a lady who was waiting outside the hospital with her young daughter. She asked Brandon to go in and check on her husband and see if he had already gone into surgery. Brandon took this selfie with them, wrote down the man's name, and went in to find him. He was in the pre-op room with his gown on, nervously waiting for surgery. He showed him the picture of his wife and daughter and said they wanted to say hi. He smiled and said he was doing okay. Brandon went back outside and let them know he was almost ready for surgery.
Then Brandon said, "Just like I shared that message with your husband, God has a message to share with you". He shared the gospel with her and talked for probably 30-45 minutes, and at the end, she prayed to receive Christ! Later that afternoon, Brandon found her husband in the recovery room. He shared with him the decision his wife had made and offered him the same chance. He explained to the man that he was called to also receive Jesus and be the spiritual leader of his family. The man nodded and understood, but he didn't make a decision that day. He said he would try taking his family to church. Please be praying that the Spirit would continue working on his heart and through his wife as a new believer!
"Do everything in love." 1 Corinthians 16:14

"Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." 1 Corinthians 15:58
"He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.'" Mark 16:15
Hebrews 10:24-25 " And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
BMDMI's Dwight Carr Bible Institute in Nicaragua has enjoyed hosting an Experiencing God conference as well as training by for local church pastors and leaders in the area. Both conferences were a great time of fellowship and preparing hearts to lead in ministry where God has called them. Please continue to pray for the students and teachers at our Bible Institutes.
💕 Happy Mother's Day! 💕

"I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." Psalm 119:11
Want to make an impact for the Kingdom? BMDMI sends short-term mission teams to serve and support the work of BMDMI Missionaries and Ministries. Team members serve alongside members of BMDMI local churches to aid in further reaching the people of a village with the Gospel through medical, dental or vet clinics, children's programming, or helping with construction projects that serve as a springboard for new ministry opportunities. Teams also support other permanent BMDMI ministries like medical facilities, children's homes, Bible Institutes or schools. Message us to find out more about how you can serve with a team!
"A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones." Proverbs 17:22
Look at the work of these incredible students at BMDMI's Good Shepherd Christian Academy in Honduras. We are so proud of their achievements!
"Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony." Colossians 3:14
"Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves." Romans 12:10
Sometimes doing door-to-door ministry, we meet people who are already believers in Christ, and we're able to encourage them in their walk. More often times, these people are a light and encouragement to us.
Recently, BMDMI missionary Brandon Fisher was with a team in a remote part of Honduras. A couple invited them into their home to meet their children. They could immediately tell one of their daughters was handicapped. Her mother said, "Tell them 'Hi', Seidi". Seidi, 15 years old, who could see and speak but not walk, began to smile and laugh and talk with them. Then her mom said, "Tell them your favorite Bible Verse, Revelation 3:20" Seidi recited the verse word for word. Then her mom said, "Now do 2 Corinthians 5:17" Seidi again nailed it. She continued to do verse after verse after verse, with the smile on her face getting bigger each time. Her mom explained that they were very rarely able to leave the house, but her husband led weekly worship services with them at home. Seidi would listen to her dad preach and memorize the verses he taught her.
The next day, the group was able to return to their house. This time Uta, an occupational therapist from South Africa, was there to help safely load Seidi and her mother into BMDMI's truck to take them to the clinic. They couldn't remember the last time that Seidi had been able to leave the house. The whole bumpy ride to the clinic, the team kept asking, "Seidi, are you feeling okay?" She just kept grinning and shouting, "Si, los gringos me estan llevando a pasear!" (Yes, the gringos are taking me out for a ride!). The team was able to take them both to the clinic to receive treatment and medications. The next week, BMDMI missionary Eric Duplantis returned to the village with a wheelchair and other necessities for their family.
The team was also able to follow up with Seidi's mom, who later got an appointment at our hospital in Guaimaca to see a doctor about her knee and leg pain following a stroke a few months ago. The missionaries were with a team at the airport when she made it to our hospital, but she left Brandon a note and a bag of several pounds worth of plantains as a thank you and blessing to us.
While working with a team a few weeks ago in Guatemala, BMDMI missionaries Mike and Sandra Little encountered a very small, frail lady. Her name is Maria. While looking around her very humble home, there was no evidence of any food other than the two bags the team had just given her. More urgently, she did not have any water. The team quickly started pulling water bottles from their backpacks, and she excitedly accepted saying, "I can have coffee now!"
The the local pastor and some team members collected money for food, water and clothing, while the rest of the team started filling large containers of water to carry up the hill to her home. They were able to fill 5 drums, two large containers and her Pila (water basin). She now had groceries, new clean clothes, and water! We praise the Lord for the local church that will continue ministering to Maria.
Extreme poverty is real, and Maria’s story is far too common. Please join us in praying for people like Maria. Consider serving on a mission team to minister to the poor and share the love of Jesus with BMDMI.
Happy Easter! "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead." 1 Peter 1:3
Celebrating HOLY WEEK: 1 Peter 2:21-23
To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.”
When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.
Celebrating HOLY WEEK: 1 Peter 2:24
“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
