🚨FALLEN HERO ALERT🚨
On September 21st, 2023, Deputy Sheriff Mary Mayo with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office passed away from a motor vehicle accident that occurred on June 13th, 2007.
In 2007, Deputy Sheriff Mayo and her fiance, Sergeant Beau Raimer, were participating in a funeral procession for Deputy Hilery Mayo (no relation) who was killed in the line of duty only four days prior.
During the procession, a violent thunderstorm came in and a large pine tree fell on top of the patrol car that Sheriff Mayo and Sergeant Raimer were riding in, killing Sergeant Raimer instantly.
Deputy Mayo suffered from a severed spinal cord that caused her to become paralyzed from the chest down. This caused Deputy Mayo to undergo years of rehabilitation and she returned to the sheriff's office as a dispatcher. However, complications arose, Deputy Mayo became bedridden, and passed away on September 21st, 2023.
Rest in peace, hero.
