Happy (early) Thanksgiving to our Three Trees Family 🧡 We are so grateful for each one of you and your support in helping us make delicious and nourishing plant-based milks for all to enjoy 🥛

We want to let you know about changes we’ll be making to our oat & seed milk that will be hitting shelves in a few weeks. This was driven by feedback from some of you, that the taste of seeds is overpowering, making the milk less versatile for coffee, baking, etc. We are so excited for you to try it! ✨

1️⃣ A more balanced ratio of oats to seeds

We rebalanced the amount of sunflower, pumpkin, flax, and oat in the recipe, and the result is a smoother milk with less of the bitter after-taste from seeds. The nutritional content changes slightly, but it's still the same clean whole food ingredients you'd find in your kitchen pantry. Still organic, with no added gums and oils, and with more protein (from the seeds) than most other oat milks.

2️⃣ A new name: Oatmilk with Seeds

Not a big change. Oat & Seed Oatmilk --> Oatmilk with Seeds. To reflect the greater prominence of oats in the new recipe.
We are really proud of the new recipe, and hope you love it as much as we do!

P.S. This might be a color changing milk! Our Oatmilk with Seeds is totally oat colored when we bottle it and only afterward do some bottles turn greenish-blue due to one of the ingredients, sunflower seeds which contain chlorogenic acid, a plant polyphenol similar to chlorophyll. When chlorogenic acid is oxidized and given a more alkaline condition, it tends to turn a greenish-blue hue. This reaction is natural and does not impact taste, so we embrace it! 💙

𝐎𝐧 𝐍𝐨𝐯 𝟏, 𝐰𝐞'𝐫𝐞 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐡𝐲. 

I launched Three Trees in a commercial kitchen in 2013, with the mission of making the most delicious nut milks and plant-based nourishment. While that hasn't changed over the past 9 years, some things have. 

In the past year, input costs have been rising... 
- refrigerated transportation has more than doubled
- some ingredients, such as sunflower seeds, have even tripled
- packaging costs have increased by 25%

We have been absorbing these increases, but we cannot continue to do so. As an independent, family-owned business without financial backing from investors, it is necessary for us to make these changes to remain viable. It is the first time ever since launch 9 years ago, as we do not do so lightly.

𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞

We never compromise on quality. We invest a lot more in our ingredients than other plant-based milk companies, choosing only fresh, organic whole food ingredients that you would find in your kitchen pantry. And we put 4x more nuts & seeds in each bottle. The result is nourishment you can taste.

Much like how consumers can influence businesses through their dollars, we try to do the same with our business partners. With sustainability being a top focus for us at Three Trees, we source our ingredients from the most sustainable farms and as locally as possible in California.

We only partner with almond growers that are looking to optimize their water usage through water flow monitors, drip irrigation, and watering only underground so no water is evaporated. Our partners use solar energy as their primary renewable source to contribute to their overall energy efficiency 💡

Additionally, our packaging is now made from 100% recycled plastic (rPET) which takes old plastic bottles and gives them a new life. By using bottles made out of 100% rPET, they can be further recycled without polluting our environment and wildlife. We are always striving to do our best to protect the planet we love ❤️🌎🌳

From making Three Trees in my kitchen to Expo West in under 10 years?! It feels like just yesterday I was selling Three Trees at my local farmers market!

I’m proud to say that Three Trees is a bootstrap company, meaning we’ve come all this way using personal resources and without the help of outside investors. As a part of our commitment to supporting a healthy environment, Three Trees switched to 100% recycled plastic bottles (rPET) earlier this year ♻️

That means Three Trees is not creating any new plastic and our bottles can be recycled again to continue creating new products from materials that already exist!

Ingredients:
Tart shell (either pre-made or the graham cracker recipe from Back Porch Paleo)
1 cup Three Trees Pistachio milk
¼ cup packed spinach
1 tbsp cassava flour
⅛ tsp almond extract
Pinch of fine sea salt
½ cup dairy-free whipped cream
Optional: 2 tbsp raw unsalted pistachios and ¼ cup dairy free whipped cream to garnish

-2 chia eggs (2 tablespoons milled chia mixed with 8 tablespoons of water)
-2 cups whole rolled oats

-2 very ripe large bananas
-1/4 cup melted coconut oil
