We trialed a new variety of lavender, Exceptional [patented plant], hybridized for the Southeast. This variety blooms for a much longer time in the summer than other varieties, which is fantastic. Our other cultivars bloomed for about three weeks, max, which is the norm. In addition, this type of lavender has a lovely, less camphor scent than most lavenders. It is a good culinary lavender.

I have about 250 plants. Lavender Exceptional is a new cultivar and is hard to find. I bought the last of this year's plants from my source.

Plant them now, and they'll develop good, strong roots to get through winter and bloom next summer. The plants will be about 15" high at that point.

Anyone is welcome to come to our field and cut any remaining lavender stems with buds that have finished blooming and are dried. They do not have lavender color. Use them in lotion, bath salts, etc. We spent so much time repairing the bear damage to the field this summer, we didn't have time to cut lavender stems. NO CHARGE!

Please bring plastic bags for lavender plants and stems.

I am wholesaling 288 gorgeous field size Lavender Sensational and Lavender Exceptional plants. These patented plants were hybridized for the Southeast. Sensational is shorter than Phenomenal or Provence (24" at maturity) with thicker leavers and blossoms with lower camphor, producing a really lovely lavender aroma. Exceptional is the newest patented cultivar. As far as I know, I'm one of the first growers to have planted it in the field. This new cultivar is much like Sensational, except it is supposed to bloom all summer long! It will be amazing if it performs as expected. Our other lavender crops just bloomed for a couple of weeks in early July. Exceptional is a game changer.

I have few Exceptional plants. Most are Sensational. These plants are ready to go in the ground now. They have to be hardened off and protected if the temperature goes below 40.

Make a 18" high mound of pea rock, sharp sand, soil (unfertilized), and a little pelletized lime. I also add pearlite to my mix. Cactus mix works as well. One mound per plant. Plant 5' apart. Water well.

Water every 5-7 days from the bottom. Drip tape is best to use.

You can also pot them and put them in the ground later or keep them in a pot.

Good news—we replanted the lavender field!! We planted a new variety that blooms all summer long, as opposed to 2-3 weeks. This is the only variety of lavender that blooms June-Sept. We will have lavender starts available for sale in the spring.
